Too much of anything is bad, but too much Champagne is just right.

About The Pack

Champagne is a region dominated by the big name brands, huge houses with bottomless marketing budgets where what outside the bottle is more important than what's on the inside.

Here are three cuvees from producers who show just why Champagne has become the drink of choice for the best moments of one's life.

These wines are all grown lovingly, raised slowly and presented beautifully.

This is a treat of a pack for yourself or someone you love.

NV Champagne Larmandier-Bernier Latitude Blanc de Blanc

Pierre and Sophie Larmandier are crafting some of the finest Champagnes of the modern era.

They take a much more natural approach to their craft than most in the region, managing their 15 hectares in the south of Côte des Blancs biodynamically (highly unusual for Champagne) and opting for a more hands off approach in the cellar. Their ferments are wild and often long, they keep the dosage low across their range of cuveés, producing dry, mineral-charged wines with incredible drive and purity.

The 'Latitude' is a non-vintage cuveé comprised of vineyards located along the same line of latitude in the south of Vertus. Forty percent is reserve wine (stocks started in 2004), with dosage coming in at a very low 4 grams/litre.

This is typical of their house style. It's long, dry, elegant and crystalline, showing both power and finesse. A gorgeous Champagne and remarkable quality for the price.

NV Bereche & Fils Brut Réserve

The Bereche estate was founded in 1847 by brothers Leon and Albert Bereche.

What began as a simple grower operation, selling the majority of their produce to bigger houses and keeping a small amount for themselves, has fully come into its own over the last few decades.

Today, the family operation is run by fifth generation brothers Raphael and Vincent Bereche. They have taken their family label to new heights. Both have studied vineyard management and oenology, both undertaken apprenticeships at larger houses to gain experience - now they are taking their family's wares to the world.

These are brilliant, powerful and hedonistic Champagnes. The Reserve is split a third each between Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier. The wines are fermented with native yeasts and over three quarters of the whole production is aged and fermented in oak adding to the depth and complexity of each cuveé.

It's rich, toasty, yet fine-boned and extremely well balanced. The perfect wine for any special occasion.

NV Champagne Laherte Freres Rose de Meunier

Laherte Fereres rise to the top of the grower Champagne movement has been meteoric.

The young Aurèlien Laherte is recognised as one of the brightest young minds in the region. Since taking control of his family's vines on the slopes to the south of Epernay, Aurèlien has received wide acclaim for his exquisite, laser-focused cuveés and is considered one of the most exciting producers in the region.

He has adopted organic vineyard practices and a traditional approach to winemaking, opting for large format barrels for ageing and using a classic wooden press - making wines in a style reminiscent of the grower Champagnes of the 1950s.

This is a blend of Pinot Meunier made in three ways. Sixty percent of the fruit is pressed off immediately making a base white wine, thirty percent is saignée Rosé, and ten percent is made as a full-blown red. It's aged in barrels in a variety of sizes, culminating in a delicious, complex sparkling Rosé that is outstanding value for money.
