2024 Dr. Ongo Pet Nat
He's played around with the Pet-Nat style for a few years now, Peter Dredge, but he thinks he's onto a winning formula here.
This is mostly saignee Pinot Noir from his Tasmania Pinot Noir. Not happy with the chunky, chewy bits so often found in the bottom of other Pet-Nats, Dredge has disgorged each of these bottles and topped them with still fermenting Riesling juice to create a fresh and fizzy drink just ready for guzzling.
Dredge only makes this wine in tiny quantities. If you want a crack at the hilariously named Dr. Ongo, you'll need to be quick.
2023 Gilbert Pet Nat Riesling
Will Gilbert continues his exploration of Petillant Naturel here with a fresh bottling of naturally fermenting Riesling from Orange.
He's got a great eye for the style.
This is zippy and zingy, loaded with juicy citrus flavours and delightfully cloudy to boot.

2023 Commune of Buttons Pretty Fun Pet Nat
There is only one rule when making a Pet-Nat: make it delicious!
Jasper and Sophie have nailed their Pretty Fun Pet-Nat again - this year it is very early picked Adelaide Hills Syrah and Chardonnay, whole-bunch fermented in oak until just a bit of sugar remained then banged into bottle for the fermentation finale and and some fine, funky bubbles.
There are plenty of fizz-filled fun times ahead with this interesting, textural Pet-Nat.
2024 La Violetta Spunk Nat
AJ Hoadley doesn’t like rules, and Spunk Nat is him at his most playful. In 2024 he grabbed Riesling from Frankland River, tossed in a splash of Shiraz from Mount Barker, let them spend a couple of days on skins and then co-fermented the lot. Bottled mid-ferment, it’s pét-nat done the La Violetta way – wild, fizzy and full of character.
It’s bright and juicy with fine bubbles, a little savoury twist from the Shiraz and Riesling’s trademark tang keeping it refreshing. Left undisgorged, you’ll find a bit of haze and sediment, but that’s just part of the fun.
Easygoing, a bit cheeky, and perfect for warm days and good company – it’s the kind of wine that doesn’t hang around once opened.
2025 Konpira Maru Mt Midoriyama Classic Pet-Nat
The Pet Nat flood continues!
This latest offering from Alastair and Sam at Konpira Maru is fantastic and a freight-train of fun to drink.
Three varieties from the Eurangie Park Vineyard in the King Valley combine forces here in a classic (*ahem) blend of 70% Dolcetto, 20% Chardonnay, 10% Gewurztraminer. There are only really two rules when you make Pet Nat: make it fizzy and make it delightful to drink. The boys have nailed it on both accounts.
It's not a profoundly complex wine but it will absolutely get you coming back for more.
2025 Delinquente Tuff Nutt Pet Nat
Crisp and crunchy Pet-Nats are booming in popularity across Australia. And when you can find thirst-quenching, chuggable wines like this at these kinds of prices, it's not hard to see why.
This is made from one of the only plantings of Bianco d'Alessano outside of its home in the Apulia region of southern Italy. The Proud family at Sherwood Estate in Loxton North seems like an ideal place for this variety to thrive as it's warm and dry just like its homeland.
The exotic perfume and wildness of this variety make it an ideal candidate for this light-fizz wine style. It's vibrant and bouncy and excellent value for money.
