About The Wine

The Sons of Eden Freya Riesling is Eden Valley Riesling at its most delicious. No mucking around, just gorgeously pure, free-run Riesling juice from good vineyards.

It comes from three different Eden Valley vineyards - all hand-picked and gently whole bunch pressed - before chilling out in stainless steel until release. The 2019 is an impressive release, tight, lithe and dart-like in its precision.

Again, it must rank amongst the country's top value Rieslings. Great drinking now and will develop beautifully in the cellar also.

About Sons of Eden

Sons of Eden is a partnership between experienced winemaker (Corey Ryan) and viticulturist (Simon Cowham) who both “learnt and refined their trades in the vineyards and cellars of Eden Valley”. The boys have successfully grown their brand with a suite of full-flavoured but well-proportioned Barossa and Eden Valley wines - predominantly reds - that have gained impressive critical acclaim.

The wines are built on classic Barossan varieties and blends, but with a modern elegance that makes the wines simultaneously approachable and cellar-worthy. With Cowham's vineyard resources and Ryan's winemaking prowess, Sons of Eden has become one of the best value producers in Australia.

Additional Info

From The Producer

There are two Eden Valley Riesling Vineyards that contribute to the 2019 Freya blend. One is situated within the cooler section of Eden Valley and has an east-west row orientation. The second is located in the much cooler, higher altitude High-Eden sub-region. The vineyards are all hand-harvested in the cool of the morning and then chilled to a further 6ºC before being gently pressed.

100% whole-bunch and berry pressed with only the finest pressings retained. The juice was settled cold and racked clear to begin fermentation. Fermented cool at 12-14C for 3 weeks before finishing sugar-dry. To promote palate texture the wine was held on yeast lees for a further 3 months before being bottled.

Blend : Riesling (100%)
ABV : 11.5%
Closure : Screw Cap
Drink Until : 2027

"From two Eden Valley vineyards: 44yo vines at Craneford, the other at High Eden, both hand-picked and whole-bunch pressed. Intense, pure lime/lemon fruit hits the bullseye, juicy yet crisp/crunchy acidity on a long palate." - James Halliday (Halliday Wine Companion)
