About The Wine
Josephine falls onto the parental branch of the fictional Gut Oggau family tree, where the personalities are more intense and show a natural power and confidence.
She's a lusty character, all fresh red and black fruits, smouldering earthy spices and fine drying cold tea tannin. The Blaufrankisch brings the pop of bright fruit, the Roesler (a genetic cross between Zwieglt and Blaufrankisch) adds a darkness and some deep thumping base to the blend.
Only a short eight months in oak has seen this emerge as a primary red wine with fruit as the star of the show.
About Gut Oggau
Gut Oggau is one of Burgenland's finest cult producers. Eduard Tscheppe & Stephanie Tscheppe-Eselböck took over Vineyard Wimmer, a 13-hectare estate near the banks of Lake Neusiedl, in 2007.
In the intervening years, they have converted the vineyard to biodynamics (Demeter certified) and set about producing some of Burgenland's most electric lo-fi wines.
Raw, charismatic and lively, the Gut Oggau Australian allocations come and go in the blink of an eye.
