About The Wine
In 1998, David Kilpatrick began planting Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on a small plot just outside Hobart with a view to make top-flight cool climate wines.
Twenty years later and the wines are more than fulfilling their promise.
This Reserve Pinot Noir was brought to life by Anna Pooley at the Pooley winery. Anna's Midas touch with this variety coming through loud and clear with this release.
If you love the more deep fruited, Burgundian style of Pinot Noir from the best producers of the Apple Isle, you would do well to check out the Clarence House.
It's a surprise packet and very good value in the context of high-end Pinot Noir from this region.
About Clarence House
Bought and planted by Dr David Kilpatrick in 1998, the Clarence House vineyard is made up of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc, Tempranillo, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
While he is very hands on, and involved in the day to day of the property, he entrusts the vineyard management, and winemaking to professionals.
Mark Hoey, a generational grape-grower looks after the vineyards, and uses his expertise in organic and biodynamic farming to nurture the vines without the use of chemical sprays or synthetic materials.
In the winery, regional superstars Anna Pooley & Justin Bubb, guide the fruit to bottle, providing their award winning expertise to their neighbour and friend David.
