About The Wine
The Glenrowan/Rutherglen regions are famous for two things; killer fortifieds and big, muscly reds.
Simon Killeen is on a mission, to take the wines of North East Victoria to the rest of the world, and what better way than with a modern example of old vine Shiraz from this historic region. This 100 year old dry grown block is in the Glenrowan GI. It is not the classic monstrous style of Shiraz often found in the area, this has a bit more class and style.
He used 30% whole bunches in the final blend of this wine, which gives it an edge, the bunches bringing a sense of wildness to the nose and making the palate deep and fresh all at once.
A rocking Shiraz. Get some.
About Simão & Co.
Simon Killeen is a seventh generation winemaker born and raised in the Rutherglen region.
His father and grandfather crafted some of the country's most legendary fortified wines, now Simon is taking up the mantle under his own label, Simão & Co.
Simão (Portuguese for Simon) is a nod to his love of traditional Portuguese fortifieds and his time spent making wine in the Douro.
Simon is deeply passionate about the wine and history of North-East Victoria. With a range that spreads from Beechworth to the King Valley and out to Glenrowan, he is making it his mission to spread the word on the unique wines from his home.
