About The Wine
In just a few short years, this has become a new high watermark for Western Australian Riesling.
Lee and Clemence have worked with this fruit for many years. They know this site like the back of their hand. This old vine, dry-grown block is now managed by them. Here all the elements of Riesling come together in beautiful harmony.
It has incredible length and drive, a thrust through the mouth which is spine-tingling. Grip, texture, crunch and searing acidity - this has it all. Mike Bennie gave this a huge 97+ points, the highest rating ever for a young Australian Riesling on The Wine Front.
As far as Australian Riesling goes, L’Enclos du Tertre is right at the apex.
About L’Enclos du Tertre
L’Enclos du Tertre is the passion project of notable WA grape growing and winemaking pair, Clemence and Lee Haselgrove.
They were the powerhouse duo behind the award-winning wines of Forrest Hill for many years. Now they have their own project. These L’Enclos du Tertre wines have been exceptional from the get-go.
At the centre of it all is a dry-grown organic vineyard in Frankland River that was planted in the 1980s. Lee, one of WA's best viticulturalists tends these old vines. Clemence crafts the wines with a deft touch.
This is a producer to keep a close eye on. The wines are made in very small amounts and are disappearing into the cellars of those in the know at light-speed.
