About The Wine

The Koerner brothers are running head on at Clare Valley wine. They've put together one of the region's most dynamic ranges of wine, investigating unsung pockets of the area with energy and creativity. It's exciting stuff.

The La Corse is not your average Clare Valley red. Here the boys combine Sangiovese and Sciaccarello with a splash of Malbec & Grenache, to create a vibrant, mischievous red with epic drinkability.

Whole berry ferments for max vitality and ageing in ceramic egg and old oak for a pure, breezy feel.

This is a new look Clare Valley red.

About Koerner

The Koerner brothers, Damon and Jono, are on a mission to bring the classic wine styles of the Clare Valley into the modern day.

They play with a mix of 'classic' Clare Valley varieties such as Riesling, Cabernet and Malbec and a suite of alternate varieties that show a different side of this iconic Australian wine region.

With fruit sourced from their own family vineyard and a move toward more contemporary winemaking, utilising terracotta and ceramic for fermenting and making as little additions as possible in the winery, it's easy to see why their star is on the rise.

Critic Reviews

DDS review

Such lift of perfume, bright floral, purple and blue fruit, sweet smooth fruit, with an almost turkish delight kind of flavour through the mouth. Spicy, juicy, and a touch of a herbal/medicinal note through the finish. Refreshing little wine. Far out. Glug. Glug. Glug. - Different Drop Wine Team

Additional Info

From The Producer

Numerous batches of fruit where sourced from Bass Hill, Vivian and Attunga Vineyards.

The fruit was picked over various days through out vintage and in the winery was 100% destemmed. Whole berry ferments occurred using indigenous yeasts, they where plunged once or twice a day and generally lasted 2 weeks. Following this the fruit was pressed to tank where it settled off large lees for a few days and then was transferred to ceramic egg and old oak for 3 months of maturation.

The wine was then blended to tank where it sat on fine lees for a further 6 months. Following this, a small sulphur addition was made and the wine was bottled without fining or filtration.

Blend : Sangiovese (50%) , Sciacarello (25%), Grenache (15%), Malbec (10%).
ABV : 12.9%
Closure : Screw cap
Drink Until : 2024
Bottle Size : 750ml
