About the Wine
'Dormilona' is Spanish for 'lazy bones', a reference to a nickname winemaker Jo Perry was given in Spain. With Jo's wines it also refers to her 'lazy' hands-off winemaking approach, and even her 'laziness' in taking so long to launch her own label. We're glad she got there in the end!
This is a super little wine. Really fun drinking. It's Semillon, organically grown from Jo's vineyard in Willyabrup, Margaret River with a little dash of Chenin Blanc thrown in for that little bit extra. It's hand-picked as always, with a little bit of whole bunch, skin contact, lees stirring and time in older oak adding oodles of texture to what is inherently pure and zippy Semillon fruit.
Terrific value for interesting, yet smashable, modern Margaret River wine.
About Dormilona
Josephine Perry is one of the most exciting emerging producers in Margaret River. Her Dormilona label is setting a new tone for the region.
A self-confessed 'lazy-bones' winemaker, Jo is low-intervention in the winery, instead focusing her energies on the quality of fruit that she brings in the winery.
She uses only organically and biodynamically farmed fruit from high-quality vineyards across Margaret River and the Swan Valley and is bringing an alt-styling to the hero varieties of the west.
These are natural wines with flair and originality. From vineyard to glass, Jo handcrafts each wine with love and tender hands. An authentic producer who's rightfully gaining plenty of attention.
