It’s the best of the Brunnen pinot noirs so far...

About The Wine
The Brünnen vineyard is set amongst spectacular Australian bushland high on the hill behind Beechworth. Its high altitude and rugged soils make a perfect setting for high-class Burgundian varieties. The Chardonnay from this vineyard makes the Vignerons Schmölzer & Brown, as does the excellent Pinot Noir.
This is a thought-provoking style of Pinot. Built in a savoury framework of herbal, undergrowthy mystery, the fruit purity from intelligent viticulture shines through. The 2015 release inspired a brilliant piece of prose from Campbell Mattinson who noted that the world of Tessa and Jeremy's Pinot Noir, "It’s a world worth stepping into."
Well the 2016 is right there again - a gorgeously pure and detailed Pinot.
This is one of the finest examples of Pinot Noir to be found from the region and highly worth investigating if you like savoury yet delicate versions of this variety.
About Vignerons Schmölzer & Brown
Tessa and Jeremy are playing a long-game with their Vignerons Schmolzer & Brown label.
They have invested in a block of land high in the hills behind Beechworth and have planted 10,000 vines on it over the last couple of years with the plan to farm it organically. Tessa has a wealth of experience from time at Sorrenberg and Kooyong, Jeremy is an architect by trade with an eye for detail.
It comes as no surprise that the buzz around this husband and wife team is palpable and the praise is high. Max Allen called them, “one of a remarkable number of impressive new wine labels to have cropped up in Beechworth over the last five years.”
They are going to be at the forefront of Beechworth wine for many years to come.
