About The Wine
"Cachorro" in Portugese loosely translates to 'cub' in English. Apt naming from Iwo and Sarah given this Cabernet comes from the younger vines on the Margaret River vineyard.
This is brought to life in a concrete vessels and old neutral oak barrels, the winemakers choosing to focus in on the prettiness and vitality of their organic fruit rather than crowd it with shiny new oak.
It's a pure and incredibly vibrant style of Cabernet, lifted and beautiful on the nose yet with all the architecture you want from Cabernet in this region.
It's gorgeous now but will cellar in the medium - long term. It's not what many have come to expect from Margaret River Cabernet, but it's a beautiful wine none the less.
About Si Vintners
Sarah Morris and Iwo Jakimowicz are the couple behind the Si Vintners label, a heartfelt natural farming and winemaking project out of Margaret River.
The two farm their small piece of Margaret River with a gentle hand leaning into organic viticulture within one of the country's most conservative winemaking regions.
Their idiosyncratic wines are pushing the boundaries of Margaret River wine. There's a purity and balance inherent in everything this they produce. These are wines built from the roots up. You can feel the passion and love in every drop from this brave avant-garde operation.
Theirs is one of the most exciting projects in Margaret River today.
