About The Wine

There's some very interesting things amongst the Eldorado Road range, and none more so than the Quasimodo.

'Quasi' is a blend of Durif, Shiraz and Nero d'Avola from around North East Victoria. The Durif gives the grunt, Shiraz gives the spice and structure and Nero brings the lift is the general story.

The 2015 is a top release of this wine. It was rated 95 points from James Halliday and 93 points from Campbell Mattinson with his comment that, "I reckon it’s quite a ripper."

Interest and immense drinkability, this is a versatile red perfect for all occasions.

About Eldorado Road

Eldorado Road is one of Northern Victoria's hidden wine gems.

Paul Dahlenburg (Bear) and Lauretta Schulz (Laurie) are the two passionate vignerons behind this label.

After taking control of an impossibly old Glenrowan vineyard planted to Shiraz that they have brought back to life, the two have planted small parcels of Durif and Nero d'Avola on their property, believing that their unique terroir between Beechworth and Wangaratta is perfectly suited to produce powerful yet elegant expressions of these varieties.

The critical acclaim for these wines is flooding in. It's only early days for Bear and Laurie in their own operation, but Eldorado Road is definitely a producer to watch.

95Points
Halliday Wine Companion

"It has excellent hue, depth and clarity, one of those wines giving you a 'come-on' signal before you've had a chance to even smell it. It combines insouciant elegance with intensity, its balance already set in stone. You can tuck this under your arm and walk into any Italian BYO restaurant and walk out very happy. Bravo." - James Halliday (Halliday Wine Companion)

93Points
The Wine Front

"It’s moderately light in colour but it’s immaculate from every angle. To smell, to taste, to feel as it slips along your tongue, and of course to savour. It’s berried and earthen, spicy and floral, with rust and leather-like nuances threaded into the bright, juicy fruit. There’s a gentle creaminess to the mouthfeel but it boasts a tanginess too. Indeed for straight-out drinkability it takes some beating but there’s more than enough here worthy of contemplation. I reckon it’s quite a ripper." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)
