About the Wine
The Douglas blend is as unique as it is delicious. Cabernet, Merlot and Pinot Noir make up the blend this year - it really is a one of a kind red. The blend differs from vintage to vintage, and is meant to be a complete expression of the season as seen through the prism of the Bannockburn vineyards. A watermark for the year, or something similar. Mike Bennie awarded the 2013 vintage 93+ points , describing thus: " It’s really captivating. I imagine sitting over this wine for a very long time." A beautifully balanced, unique take on a classic style. A vineyard and a season distilled into a bottle. Awesome stuff.
About Geelong
This Victorian region rocks some very serious wines. Pinot Noir from this area, depending on who you talk too, is arguably the best in the country. Phenomenal output for the size of it. The wines from this area are idiosyncratic and have an earthy, sensual quality. Burgundian varieties, Syrah, hell, even Pinot Gris does exceptionally well here. To be honest, it’s very hard to go wrong when buying from Geelong.
