The Tolpuddle Chardonnay has quickly become one of Tasmania's most sought-after Chardonnay releases. This stunning vineyard in the south of Tasmania in the Coal River Valley is set on a continuous slope facing North-East, the ideal locale for producing top-class, premium versions of Burgundian grapes. The Chardonnay from 2015 is possibly the best release so far by winemaker Adam Wadewitz. The fruit marginally riper than previous releases. The reviews have been blistering with 97 points from Huon Hooke and James Suckling and 95 points from Mike Bennie and Andrew Graham, this is a glorious cool-climate Chardonnay.

This wine is true to the Tolpuddle Vineyard Chardonnay style: fine and precise with firm acidity, and a combination of lightness of texture and intensity of flavour. The 2015 vintage was defined by concentration paired with high natural acidity, and reflects a wonderful growing season, and the results of the detailed work done in the vineyard.

On an expedition to Tasmania in 2011, Martin Shaw and Michael Hill Smith MW purchased a stunning vineyard in the Coal River Valley which they thought had the potential to make some of the finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the region.
Tolpuddle is now one of Tasmania’s most talked about vineyards, producing wines of blistering precision and finesse which have received rave critical acclaim. They are highly sought-after and are some of the finest examples of these varieties that can be found anywhere on the Apple Isle. These are premium wines that should be savoured.
