- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
In an effort to produce the finest style of Chardonnay he can, Jeffrey Grosset has sourced fruit from Piccadilly Valley, the coolest sub-region in South Australia, for many years.
From the laser focused fruit this site produces, Grosset carefully etches out a streamlined version of Chardonnay which is sophisticated and effortlessly elegant.
The 2015 vintage was rated 95 points from Huon Hooke and 93+ points from Campbell Mattinson. A wine designed for Chardonnay purists who enjoy restraint as well as power.
What It Tastes Like
“The fruit, the oak, the fluid mouthfeel, the way it flows seamlessly through the finish. You can’t help but be impressed. Grapefruit to the fore, spicy/toasty oak characters, a sprinkling of oatmeal and the flesh of white peach. It all teams, it all combines. And it all lingers.” - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)
95 points. “Very light straw colour and a floral spicy aroma, coconut and peppermint, the wine is lively and fresh, intense and crisp, tangy and dry. The flavour is very intense and concentrated, penetrating and fresh, piercing and long, with great power and style. A wine which will improve with time.”

About the Producer
Jeffery Grosset has set a blistering pace for winemakers in the Clare Valley since 1981. He is regarded by many as the premier Riesling producer in the country and has been recognised internationally as one of the finest winemakers in Australia. His attention to detail, both in his organically farmed vineyards and his winery, has given rise to a portfolio of effortlessly articulate wines that are the envy of many.
The Adelaide Hills may be the most energised wine region in the country. The sense of exploration and creativity amongst the tribe of talented young winemakers in this region is unparralelled. The Hills has become crucible of Australian wine talent, offering an array of varieties, from classics such as Shiraz, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, to new varieties like Nebbiolo and Grüner Veltliner for the younger generation to play with. Every vintage brings new colour and complexity to the rich wine, food and produce culture of this cool climate region.
Australian Chardonnay is a seductive variety that comes in all shapes and sizes. From the toasty and voluptuous to the lean, flinty and minerally, there is a Chardonnay out there to suit everyone. Australia’s developing prowess with this variety has been marked by the international community with wine writers such as Jancis Robinson marvelling at the outstanding value to be had right across the country. The prestige brands of Margaret River offer wines of deep flavour and power, often crafting fuller-figured Chardonnay of outstanding quality. The cooler-climate wines from the Yarra Valley, Tasmania and the like are more focused and linear, building complexity around a backbone of pristine acidity. Whatever your preference, there is an Australian Chardonnay to enchant all comers.
