- The Home of Artisan Australian Wine!
Shashi Singh and her husband Devendra have been in the Mornington Peninsula for more than 30 years. In 1998 they purchased a vineyard planted to predominantly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with a smattering of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot on the southern end of Red Hill. After only a few vintages it was clear that Syrah was the variety most suited to the site. Since then the entire 4ha vineyard has been grafted to Syrah. It was a bold choice that turned out to be spot on. Now they produce one of the most sophisticated and elegant versions of Syrah in the region. The 2013 is one of their finest releases to date. Slender, spicy and sumptuous - this is a distinct and unique expression of the variety more than worthy of the 96 points from James Halliday.
What it Tastes Like
"An extremely attractive cool climate shiraz with a silky sheen to its supple, spicy red and black cherry fruits on the palate, the tannins a fine gauze." - James Halliday (Australian Wine Companion)

Farmed without the use of pesticides and with the implementation of biodynamic principals. The vineyard is located at an elevation of 204m above sea level on the Mornington Peninsula (Red Hill South, Victoria). The site was planted in 1987 on gentle north facing slopes of clay loam and tertiary basalt. The 4 hectare site is non-irrigated and features only one variety, shiraz.

The Mornington Peninsula has become a go-to destination for lovers of modern Australian Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Mornington’s perfect climatic conditions for producing these varieties has seen it become, in only a relatively short time, one of the premier regions for these varieties in the country. The wines are beautiful. The best examples are wines which show a restrained power. Both intensity and elegance. It’s a region which will continue to blossom and mature for many years to come.
Long held up to the rest of the world as Australia’s flagship red variety, the mighty Australian Shiraz has undergone something of a renaissance over the past two decades. While our robust styles of Shiraz from powerhouse South Australian regions such as the Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale may have put Australian wine on the map, Shiraz from our cooler regions are giving the variety a new look. Wines from Canberra, all parts of Victoria, the Adelaide Hills, and the Great Southern, are all delivering wines of finesse and spice set to a lighter framework. The tapestry of Australian Shiraz is richly diverse, and will only continue to develop and mature into the future.
