Mount Pleasant is one of the most iconic names in Australian wine history and a beacon for lovers of cellar-worthy Hunter Valley Semillon and Shiraz.

The winery was established in 1921 by the legendary Maurice O’Shea, regarded as a true Australian pioneer of table wine. After studying oenology in France he persuaded his mother to buy land in the Hunter, including vineyards planted by Englishman Charles King back in 1880 - and named his new estate Mount Pleasant.

The Griffith-based McWilliam family got involved with Mount Pleasant and took full ownership in 1941, a partnership that lasted until 2020.

Now under invigorating new ownership, chief winemaker Adrian Sparks (just their fifth head winemaker ever) leads the way into the second century of Mount Pleasant.
