Description

It is rare to find Petit Chablis grown on the same prized Kimmeridgian limestone as the Grand Crus, but that is exactly what makes Moreau-Naudet’s version so special. Most wines at this level sit on the sandier Portlandian soils of the higher plateaus, but the late Stéphane Moreau insisted on terroir that delivers real substance. Sourced from the La Grosse Cour vineyard - featuring vines up to 50 years old - this wine consistently punches far above its humble classification.

The 2024 release carries the signature gravitas of the domaine. It was fermented spontaneously in large vats to preserve its bright, sunny character, showing generous citrus and white stone fruit on the nose. However, it’s the palate that really impresses; it is crisp, chalky, and defined by a gentle mineral tension that prevents the wine from ever feeling simple.

This is a Petit Chablis that is incredibly moreish and approachable in its youth, yet it possesses a depth and precision that reflects the quality of organic-focused farming and mature vines. If you’ve always written off Petit Chablis as a simple "aperitif" wine, this bottling will completely change your perspective.

“Hmm – there’s a fine mineral depth here – that’s very encouraging – I’d carafe to open a little more. Wide, a fine mouthful of flavour here. It vibrates in the finish – that’s super – and long too.”
Bill Nanson, Burgundy Report

Diam. Moreau’s Petit Chablis comes from a single 2.5-hectare site, La Grosse Cour, between Courgis and Beine, just outside Chablis on the route to Auxerre. It has a southwest orientation and lies on Kimmeridgian soils (as opposed to the higher Portlandian soils on which most Petit is grown). Half of the plot is home to 25- to 30-year-old vines, while the other half is somewhat older at 45 to 50 years. The wine fermented spontaneously in large vats of 32 to 100 hectolitres. This wine possesses a surprising, though welcome, gravitas and charisma for a Petit Chablis. It is always a pleasure to taste what mature vines and quality, organic-focused farming can create at this level.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
