Description

While Jérôme Prévost built his legend on the sandy soils of Gueux, this Grand Cru bottling - debuting only recently in 2019 - represents a massive leap into the limestone heart of the region. Since 2021, the blend has been anchored by Jérôme and Agnès’s own tiny 0.28-hectare holding in Le Mesnil; ancient mass-selection vines planted in the '60s on the same hard Lutetian limestone used to build the cathedrals of Reims.

The 2023 base is a mind-blowing release that somehow balances sheer hedonism with pinpoint precision. Alongside their own Le Mesnil fruit, Jérôme sources Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Puisieulx, working with young growers who mirror his obsession with low yields and full ripeness. After the intense sorting required in '23, the wine has emerged with incredible class. It’s rich and opulent, but the "classical" nature of the vintage has gifted it a structural frame that feels strong and nicely defined.

It’s deeply seductive. You get layers of creamy stone fruit, roasted nuts, and citrus oil, all wrapped in a long, mineral-driven finish. There’s a bit of classy, spicy reduction on the nose that really benefits from some air - give it a decant or use a wider Burgundy glass to let it stretch its legs. It’s an individual, powerhouse Champagne that proves Jérôme is just as much a master of the Grand Cru sites as he is of his home turf in Gueux.

This newish (and incredibly rare) bottling from Prévost debuted with the 2019 vintage. Since the 2021 vintage, this bottling has included fruit from Agnès and Jérôme’s two tiny plots of Grand Cru Le Mesnil, totalling 0.28 hectares. Purchased in spring 2021, the mass-selection vines in these vineyards were planted in the 1960s on hard Lutetian limestone (the stone used for the cathedrals of Reims and Paris). The rest of the blend is, again, Chardonnay from Le Mesnil (Côte des Blancs) and Pinot Noir from Puisieulx at the northern end of the Montagne de Reims, just north of Rilly-la-Montagne and Verzenay. The latter sites are farmed by a couple whom Jérôme refers to as “lovely, young and talented growers,” with a viticulture charter that emphasises cultivated soils, low yields and full ripeness (with the harvest date determined in consultation with Prévost). The result is a mind-blowing Champagne. The 2023 really benefits from a decant but also opens quickly in the glass (especially in a Burgundy glass which is my preference for this wine). There’s lots of spicy, classy reduction whilst the palate is rich and opulent, with layer upon layer of creamy, stone fruited, nutty goodness and a long minerally close. As individual and seductive as Champagne gets. Yes! RW

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
