Description
Marco de Grazia bottles Don Peppino separately for a reason: its ungrafted Nerello Mascalese vines have survived for more than 140 years. Named for the farmer who tended them for seven decades, this is one of Tenuta delle Terre Nere’s rarest wines.
The vines occupy just 0.8 hectares within Calderara Sottana, rooted in shallow volcanic soils thick with stones. De Grazia gives the fruit much the same treatment as his other crus, allowing the distinction of these ancient vines to come through without a special cellar recipe.
The more generous 2024 season has produced an unusually expressive young Don Peppino. Ripe cherry and plum fruit fill the palate, with dried flowers, herbs and smoky notes adding detail; smooth tannins initially soften the impression of its considerable structure.
There’s richness here, but fresh acidity keeps the wine balanced through a long finish. It’s inviting already, though the depth of fruit and underlying tannin give good reason to put a few bottles away.
Awarded 99 points and ranked No. 9 in James Suckling’s Top 100 Wines of Italy 2026, this combines the concentration of exceptionally old, ungrafted vines with the generosity of the vintage.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.
Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.
What that means for you:
- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate
Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.
