Description
Reenen Borman is easily one of the most talented winemakers in South Africa right now. While his high-end bottles get all the trophies, this "Wit Versnit" is arguably his best-value play. It’s grown out in Montagu, a rugged, mountainous area where the limestone soils give the wines a completely different energy to the warmer coastal regions.
The 2024 is a blend of 55% Chenin Blanc and 45% Colombard, taken from the same property that produces their cult-status "Steen." Colombard used to be the workhorse of the brandy industry, but here it adds an incredible, crunchy acidity and a pithy texture that makes the wine feel alive in the glass.
They don't rush things in the cellar. The fruit was whole-bunch pressed and fermented naturally, then tucked away in a mix of old oak and concrete for 10 months. That time on the lees is the secret sauce; it gives the wine a lovely bit of weight and a "wet stone" mineral character that keeps it from being just another simple fruity white.
On the nose, it’s really pretty - think orchard blossom, pear, and a bit of tropical guava. The palate is light but definitely not lean, with a focused, linear drive and a dry, saline finish that just screams for food. It’s clean, poised, and makes for a brilliant aperitif or a partner for a piece of grilled snapper.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
