Description

Sébastien Christophe’s "Vieilles Vignes" represents a major step up in his lineup, sourced from a prized parcel of old vines planted by his grandfather. These deeper-rooting, old vines tap directly into the bedrock of Fontenay-près-Chablis, yielding a tiny crop of highly concentrated fruit. It is a bottling that insiders constantly hunt for because it routinely outperforms many producers' premier crus, showing off the serious side of the estate's old-vine heritage.

The 2024 vintage was a cold, lower-yielding year that naturally packed the grapes with immense flavor and a very classic flavour profile. To handle the extra muscle and depth of this old-vine fruit, Sébastien ages a portion of this cuvée in older oak barrels alongside stainless steel. This subtle touch of wood coaxes out a much broader, richer texture and lets the wine sit on its lees without ever losing its sharp limestone focus.

The nose opens with an intense mix of lemon curd, yellow orchard fruit, and a distinct, savory gunflint reduction. The palate is noticeably broader and more physical than the regular village bottling, carrying a deep, concentrated weight that coats the mouth before a wave of briny, oyster-shell acidity sweeps in to clean it up. The finish is remarkably long and savory, leaving a persistent chalky grip that demands food.

This is a brilliant, layered old-vine Chablis that brings grander scale and texture to the glass while keeping its feet firmly planted in Kimmeridgian stone.

The domaine of Christophe et Fils, and its vineyards, are in the commune of Fyé, across the river from the town of Chablis. The hills are steep here and overlook Les Clos, Blanchots and Montee de Tonnerre. The biggest surprise is his Chablis Vielles Vignes made from two parcels, both circa 60 years of age, all raised in stainless steel allowing the terroir to shine through, it displays beautiful bracing acidity and vibrancy. It also has that attractive green and platinum shimmer and is particularly concentrated and suave. A terrific village, that quite frankly is easily of 1er Cru standard.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
