Description

Thibaud Boudignon is a bit of a legend in wine geek circles, and for good reason. He manages his vineyards with the kind of intense precision you normally only see in Grand Cru Burgundy. He actually employs one person per hectare just to look after the vines. While his rare Savennières gets a lot of the spotlight, his entry-level Anjou Blanc shows exactly why his dry Chenin Blancs have a massive cult following.

The 2023 growing season offered a fleshier, more generous style compared to some of his older, heavily austere years. The fruit comes from 40-year-old vines rooted in a shallow mix of grey shale and volcanic rock. Thibaud ferments with native yeasts and uses large, old Austrian oak foudres to give the wine weight, avoiding any sweet wood flavour.

In the glass, it gives off aromas of fresh melon, tart yellow plum, and wild herbs. It feels deep and savory, carrying a line of salty minerality and a long, crisp crunch.

A lovely Chenin Blanc from one of our favourite Loire producers.

"The wines of Boudignon were the best dry chenins that I tasted at the Salon of Angers, we are at the level of 1er Cru and Grand Cru Burgundy."
- Michel Bettane

"Thibaud Boudignon works some of the most exciting vineyards in the entire appellation, and is one of its most convincing young vignerons, producing a thrilling range of wines."
- Chris Kissack (The Wine Doctor)

From 38 year-old vines, planted at 8000 vines/ha on shallow soils of grey schist and rhyolite. Fermented in stainless steel with native yeasts for 2-3 weeks, followed by maturation in 300L and 750L barrels (30% new) for 15-18 months. Since Thibaud has moved into his new winery just 2 years ago this wine has moved up a few notches in depth and complexity. The oak integration is now perfect to the point of being invisible serving only to add another layer to the tight citric core of fruit. Especially age-worthy in 2017 but try to keep your hands off this one. This is pure pleasure from the first taste. To be enjoyed in the first 5 or so years. This wine pushes the boundaries of Anjou in a very positive direction, the resulting wines are crystalline pure.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
