Description

The Côtes du Couchois is one of Burgundy's last havens of value, a little pocket of hills just west of Maranges where Pinot Noir grows on clay soils streaked in reds, ochres and greys. Domaine du Beauregard has farmed here for five generations, and Les Grandes Plantes is their take on this under-the-radar corner of the Côte d'Or's southern tail.

These days it's Stéphanie and Jérôme running the show. Their approach is sustainable and hands-off in the vineyard, and every plot is picked and fermented separately so each cuvée speaks of its own patch of dirt. This one comes from a single, clearly identified Couchois plot, and 2023 was a generous, sunny year across Burgundy that gave plenty of ripe, easygoing fruit - a good season for riper, more generous reds.

This is honest, medium-bodied Pinot with red cherry and raspberry up front, a little earthy, savoury edge underneath and soft, gentle tannins. It's built for drinking rather than pondering. Pull the cork now or over the next couple of year and if you like, give it a light chill on a warm night.

It's a bit of a coup to find real village-style Burgundy from a family estate, at a price that makes it easy to open on a Tuesday.

SITUATION:

Our vineyards, located in the heart of the prestigious commune of Saint Sernin du Plain, benefit from an ideal southeast exposure, offering perfect conditions for viticulture. The soil, rich in variegated clays, nourishes vines with an average age of 50 years, ensuring exceptional aromatic concentration. We respect nature by prioritizing manual soil management techniques such as inter-row cultivation, plowing, and natural grass cover to maintain ecological balance.

WINEMAKING:

Our winemaking process is designed to reflect the purity of the vintage and terroir, with minimal intervention to allow the grapes to fully express themselves. The 2022 vintage underwent 16 days of maceration with daily pump-overs for optimal extraction. Fermentation was followed by gentle pressing to preserve the subtle aromas.

Racking and bottling are carried out in accordance with the lunar cycle, on a fruit day under a waning moon, a choice that positively influences wine quality.

AGEING:

Aged 100% in oak barrels and demi-muids, this Pinot Noir develops its complexity over time, enriched with perfectly integrated woody notes.

GRAPE VARIETY: Pinot Noir 100%

DEGUSTATION:

From the first glance, this Bourgogne Côtes du Couchois captivates with its intense cherry-red color and violet highlights. The generous and seductive nose unfolds aromas of red and black fruits, accented by delicate spicy and woody notes. On the palate, this wine is fresh and gourmand, with silky tannins that melt into a long and harmonious finish.

Domaine du Beauregard

Meeting Stéphanie and Jérôme Dépernon earlier this year, we felt an immediate connection. A sibling team farming their own vineyards and making bright, full-flavoured, honest wines, they reminded us of Australian producers we love.

Their family’s Domaine du Beauregard spans five generations. Based in Saint-Sernin-du-Plain, where the southern Côte de Beaune meets the Côtes du Couchois, they work across Maranges, the Hautes Côtes de Beaune and surrounding appellations—some of Burgundy’s last pockets of real value.

The wines are generous and warm-hearted, with vibrant fruit, proper structure and an ease that invites another glass. These are Burgundies for dinner and sharing with friends, with plenty of character but no need for a speech before pouring.

Behind them is thoughtful work: Jérôme tends the vines and makes the wines, while Stéphanie brings French and Australian experience to sharing them. A welcoming introduction to Burgundy, with plenty for established lovers too, at reasonable prices—even at premier cru level.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
