Description

The "Les Bas Liards" plot sits at the foot of the slope in Savigny, a spot known for producing some of the most approachable and supple wines in the village. Under the new direction of Alexandra Wilson, it’s been turned into something truly elegant. Having cut her teeth with names like Benjamin Leroux and Jane Eyre (Alex's aunt), Alex brings a real lightness of touch here, moving away from the more rustic, earthy styles Savigny is sometimes known for.

The 2023 is all about purity and "crunch." Alex has dialed back the new oak significantly, focusing instead on gentle extraction to keep the tannins lacy and fine. With the help of Bernard Zito’s organic expertise in the vines, the fruit arrived at the cellar in such good nick that it didn't need much tinkering. It’s a harmonious, transparent red that feels completely unforced.

Expect a lovely perfume of fresh red cherries and wild raspberries, with just a hint of sweet spice adding a bit of detail. On the palate, it’s silky and vibrant—a signature of the new Alussia style. It’s a pretty, sophisticated Pinot that’s built for early enjoyment, proving that when you focus on the fruit and the site, the results are just flat-out delicious.

"Supple, concentrated, beautifully textured – that is absolutely delicious – warming in the glass shows an extra (barrel) caramel style in the finish. The nose needs to flower for the wine to be to be truly excellent, likewise with an oaky caramel finish that would have me waiting for 2-3 years – but I expect it will be completely delicious…"

Domaine d'Alussia

Domaine d'Alussia represents a compelling new chapter in Aloxe-Corton, emerging from the total restructuring of the former Domaine Mischief and Mayhem. At the centre of this evolution is Melbourne-born winemaker Alexandra Wilson, who took full control of the winemaking and harvest in 2024. Wilson brings a serious pedigree to the estate, having cut her teeth alongside her aunt, Jane Eyre, and the legendary Benjamin Leroux.

The domaine manages organically certified and biodynamic plots across the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits, including prime holdings in Savigny-lès-Beaune, Pommard, and a rare sliver of Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru ‘Les Referts’. Working with organic specialist Bernard Zito, Wilson has pivoted the style toward a more transparent, modern aesthetic.

In the cellar, heavy-handed oak is dialed back in favour of a technical mix of older French oak and ceramic "Clayver" vessels. This builds sophisticated texture without masking fruit purity. From the saline Bourgogne Aligoté to the silky Pommard, these wines are defined by their freshness and "crunch". For those following the new generation of Burgundy talent, Alussia is firmly a name to watch.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
