The 2016 Domaine Montbourgeau Jura L'Etoile Vin Jaune is a remarkable expression of 100% Savagnin, offering a strong and powerful oxidative character. Aged under a film of flor (yeast) for over six years, this wine showcases rich, traditional Jura winemaking with great precision and energy.
This Vin Jaune presents complex aromas of nuts, spices, and vanilla, developing elegance and harmony on the palate. The high-toned, mineral finish reflects the unique terroir of L'Etoile, characterized by gray and blue marl soils. The wine is bone-dry with hints of ginger and walnuts, salt and honey. A classic wine style begging for a large chunk of Compte cheese.
Harvested manually and aged in 230-litre barrels without topping off, the wine undergoes rigorous tasting and analysis throughout its ageing process. The result is a wine with vibrant acidity, concentrated body, and remarkable ageing potential, embodying the refined and elegant style of the L'Etoile appellation. Serve cool rather than chilled.

"The super-young and tender 2016 L'Etoile Vin Jaune exacerbated the elegant and subtle character of Montbourgeau with the grapes from a cold and rainy vintage with higher acidity, and the wine has very good conditions for a long élevage under the veil of yeasts. They aged it in a cool cave, where the evaporation and concentration are lower, and the wines keep a fresher and more elegant style."

"Such a clean and bright rendering of vin jaune, where many get very glossy, rich, warm, this is vibrant as can be, power and yet a scintillating line of freshness cutting through a more gentle oxidation profile. Light fino sherry notes, honey-glazed nuts, tart green apple, pink grapefruit, curry powder, saline minerality in spades. Quite curiously compact and linear in its expression. So wonderful, and should keep for a million years."

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
