2023 Woodlawn Waverley Vineyard Pinot Noir

The story behind this vineyard is a good one. Waverley had been planted in 2005 but the owner had stepped away, leaving it derelict. In 2015, Ricky Evans knocked on the door and convinced him to hand over the farming. It's been one of his most high quality sites ever since.

Located east of Launceston with a little elevation, the vineyard sits more in the influence of the surrounding mountains than the Tamar River, which shows in a cooler, slower-ripening character. Three clones: Dijon 114 and 115, which are picked together and given a good portion of whole bunch, and an unknown late-ripening clone with high natural acidity that gets an extra week on the vine before being destemmed and blended in. The final blend sits at around 30% whole bunch, with 11 months in French oak (mostly second and third fill).

Where Three Wishes leans into warmth and flesh, Waverley is the more restrained and savoury of the two. Fine, firm tannins, a brisk acidity that runs the length of the palate, and a long, composed finish. The site isn't the prettiest, but the wines certainly are.

2023 Woodlawn Three Wishes Vineyard Pinot Noir

Three Wishes is a well-established, extremely isolated site on the eastern bank of the Tamar, planted by the Whish-Wilson family in 2000. Ricky Evans has been working with it since 2015. Sheltered from Bass Strait winds and warmed by its north-east aspect and proximity to the river, it's the warmest site in his vineyard portfolio, producing mature, low-yielding fruit with ample flavour and tannin.

The vineyard is planted to two clones: D5V12, which is picked early for red fruit character and perfume, and MV6, harvested a little later for depth and structure. Close to 40% whole bunch went into the ferment, with 11 months in French oak (mostly second and third fill) before bottling.

The 2023 reflects a slightly cooler vintage, which shows in a more savoury, composed character. It's restrained and fine-boned, with spice, dark fruit and good chalky acidity that holds everything together through a long finish. There's real complexity here, and the structure to develop well in bottle.

2023 Woodlawn Park Vineyard Pinot Noir

The Park Vineyard is the home block at Woodlawn - established on Ricky Evans' family farm, the site of the winery itself, on free-draining aeolian sands over a gentle north-facing slope above beautiful Swan Bay. Afternoon breezes off the bay cool the vines through summer, giving the site a moderate microclimate that suits Pinot well. This is the debut release.

The vineyard is planted to four clones: MV6, Pommard, 115 and Abel, each handled separately in the winery. The 115 is picked early for brightness, MV6 goes through varied cultural treatments for complexity, Pommard delivers a savoury character from this site, and Abel adds flesh and juiciness. Lots of small individual ferments, with only a selection of barrels making the final blend. Eleven months in French oak, mostly second and third fill.

It's a spiced, aromatic Pinot with a savoury, earthy edge, fine structure and real length. There's both complexity and elegance here for a debut release, reflecting the range of clonal material and the natural character of the site.

An exciting new chapter in the Woodlawn and Ricky Evans story!

Woodlawn Tasmania

Woodlawn Tasmania is the umbrella under which Ricky Evans' three wine labels coalesce.

His three labels include the regional Two Tonne Tasmania series of Tamar Valley Riesling, Chardonnay and sub-regional Pinot Noirs, the experimental series of wines under the Havilah label made for his wine bar in Launceston of the same name and his Single Vineyard range of exceptional premium wines from his beloved Tamar Valley vineyards farmed by Ricky himself.

Evans is one of Tasmania's most dynamic winemakers. Over his time since serendipitously starting the Two Tonne Tasmania label in 2013, Ricky's approach to both farming grapes and making wine has matured dramatically. The young gun is now an established player in the upper echelon of the island and is set to be one of Tasmania's most influential voices in wine for many years to come.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
