About the Wine

While we know the Barossa for it's powerful, bold and ballsy Shiraz's, let's not forget that the region is also a world-class producer of Grenache. It's got the perfect climate for growing this variety, and when exceptional fruit meets exceptional winemaker, the rest is history.

This one from Yelland & Papps shows just how good a Grenache can get from this area. Blending specially selected parcels of fruit from one of their favourite Grenache vineyards, the result is a stunningly elegant, flavourful and structured wine that lets the terroir speak for itself.

Grab yourself a bottle of this and you'll realise a great Barossa red doesn't always mean Shiraz (though, we do still love those too!)

About Yelland & Papps

Yelland and Papps are not your average Barossa producer.

Owned and run by husband and wife team Michael and Susan Papps since 2005, their philosophy is about respecting what has made the Barossa great, whilst also experimenting with a new range of grape varieties and winemaking techniques.

Grenache and Shiraz are their primary focus in reds, while their textural Roussanne and Vermentino provide delicious alternatives to the typical regional white varieties.

These are very well made, interesting wines that show Barossa warmth and richness with a little bit of an edge.

From the Producer

Keeping selected parcels from three exceptional vintages from one of our favourite Grenache vineyards, with time and patience this blend has come together beautifully.

Collectively these three parcels showcase this vineyard and embrace the variation of vintages and together we feel this is a beautiful expression of vineyard and fruit. Made in a traditional sense of destemmed whole berry wild fermented in small open fermenters for a range of 20 – 25 days for colour and structure. All parcels basket pressed though traditional wooden basket press and transferred to French Oak puncheons. These parcels have spent between 3 months to 40 months in oak maturing to create length and structure.
