2025 Chatto Isle Pinot Noir

The Isle Pinot is the flagship of the Chatto range – estate-grown fruit from Jim and Daisy's home vineyard in Glaziers Bay, Huon Valley. A selection of the best-performing blocks and clones on site; for 2025, fruit from the vineyard's "bookends," clonage 777 (80%), Abel (13.5%) and 667 (6.5%). Darker fruit, denser tannin, more reserved than Intrigue but with greater volume and power.

2025 was warm and dry, rainfall about 10% below average. A wetter spring lifted yields, and a warm, dry finish delivered fruit with real intensity, detail and focus despite the medium weight.

Handpicked, 15% whole bunch, fermented 10 days on skins with hand plunging and indigenous yeast, raised in 1 and 3 year old French puncheons. Unfined, unfiltered, with a light touch in the cellar, but plenty of shape and presence in the glass.

This is the wine Jim puts his name on – summing up everything achieved at the Isle vineyard since 2007. A great drink on release that rewards cellaring.

96 points
"Highly complex. Highly textural. Sinewy and long. Takes a long time to unfurl in the glass... This wine is a world and a wonder. It sits firmly on the palate, and firmly in the upper echelons." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

2025 Chatto Intrigue Pinot Noir

Jim Chatto’s Huon Valley operation pushes the absolute limits of Tasmanian viticulture. While his flagship release zooms in on specific vineyard blocks, the Intrigue bottling shows a blend of his whole home farm.

Sourced entirely from the Isle Vineyard in Glaziers Bay, it blends all eight Pinot clones planted across the property. It takes its name from a racing yacht secretly built in 1984 inside the exact shed that now serves as the winery. The 2025 vintage delivered a wet spring followed by a warm, dry run to harvest, driving concentration without sacrificing the deep south's essential tension.

Everything is handpicked and wild-fermented with 15% whole bunches. The juice spends ten days on skins with manual plunging before resting in French oak puncheons - just a quarter of them new.

This trades delicate fruit for serious, textural power. The 2025 has a dense core of black cherry and dried mountain herbs, and dense tannin. A serious and cellar-worthy Tassie Pinot from one of the best producers of the variety in the country.

95 points
"So much power here and with it, length. It sits bright in the glass but the palate is a mass of black cherry, woodsmoke, alpine herb, mineral/rust and integrated sweet cedar notes. It’s firm, it’s textural, it has impact and yet it’s all zeroed in on the length of the finish. Time required but this will be brilliant when it relaxes."
- Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

2025 Chatto Seven Inch Pinot Noir

Just a kilometre from Chatto’s home block at Isle, the Seven Inch vineyard could almost be its twin - but like any siblings, it has a voice all its own. Planted in 2007 and lovingly tended by Max and Sue Kitchell, this site has been part of the Chatto stable since 2014 and has become one of the Huon Valley’s most quietly compelling Pinot vineyards.

The 2025 Seven Inch Pinot Noir is rich yet chiselled, marrying opulence and structure with the elegance we’ve come to expect from Jim Chatto. It’s a blend of four clones - 115, G5V15, D5V12, and 8104 - with just 12.5% whole bunch to add aromatic lift without overwhelming the wine’s natural grace. There’s a swirl of rose petals on the nose and a velvet touch of tannin through the finish.

Textural, poised and sumptuously detailed, this is a Chatto Pinot with plenty of charm but good tannin and drive.

96 points
"A beautiful pinot noir sourced from Max and Sue Kitchell's Glaziers Bay vineyard, just a kilometre or so from the neighbours of Jim and Daisy Chatto's home in the Huon Valley... There's a wonderful maritime energy to this wine. It has sapidity and sinew in just the right doses, with filigree, purity and velocity in equal measure on the fade out."
- Dave Brookes (Halliday Wine Companion)

"A leaner, fine boned, elegant wine, with oodles of charm. Simply gorgeous."
- Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

2025 Chatto Bird Pinot Noir

The 2025 Bird Pinot is the more delicate, lighter-framed Pinot in the Chatto range. It comes from a high-performing old site up in Pipers River, planted back in the late ’90s by Andrew Pirie. Jim’s worked with this fruit for years now and really knows how to let it shine.

2025 was a dry, early vintage in Tassie (one of the earliest in some years), and it’s given this wine a little more weight than usual, while still keeping all the lift and finesse that Bird’s known for. It’s all about purity – red fruits, spice, fine structure. Wild fermented, matured in large old oak, and handled gently the whole way through, fruit purity is at a maximum here.

This is what Chatto calls his “gateway” Pinot - and sure, it’s the lightest in the lineup, but it’s still got plenty to say. Lovely to drink now, but no rush either.

96 points
" It's a gorgeous little thing. It's the lightest wine in the Chatto quiver, with a delicate fruit weight and sapid mineral cadence. To be honest, it's damn hard not to pour another glass immediately, and that's the name of the game."
- Dave Brookes (Halliday Wine Companion)

2025 Chatto Killara Farm Pinot Noir

There’s no mistaking Jim Chatto’s deft touch in this brooding, muscular expression of Coal River Valley Pinot Noir. Killara Farm is grown by Gill Christian and Todd Goebel at their Brinktop Road vineyard in Penna, a site that clearly has Jim excited.

In true Chatto style, this is Pinot that balances strength with nuance. It’s a blend of three clones: MV6 bringing the spice and herbal lift, D2V4 (Pommard) offering dark muscle and depth, and D5V12 adding ripe red fruit. The resulting wine has layers for days - savoury, detailed, and packed with Coal River generosity.

The palate is full and grounded, loads of tannin and spice. A few years in the cellar is something we'd highly recommend for the 2025 release in particular.

95+ points
"Wonderfully pure and expressive with sleek and harmonious fruit, uber-fine, powdery tannins and a pitch-perfect mineral cadence..."
- Dave Brookes (Halliday Wine Companion)

2025 Chatto Franklinii Pinot Noir

Jim Chatto has been exploring the absolute limits of Tasmanian Pinot Noir for over two decades. His owen Huon Valley project operates right on the edge of viticultural viability, but this wine, sourced from some grower friends, consistently delivers some of the island's most compelling drinking.

This release pulls from two distinct sites across the valley in Cradoc and Glaziers Bay. A wetter-than-usual spring in 2025 pushed healthy yields, but it was the noticeably warm, dry finish to the growing season that locked in the fruit's concentration and structure.

The fruit is entirely handpicked with 15% whole bunches retained for the wild ferment. After ten days on skins with manual plunging and pump-overs, the juice is moved to French oak puncheons - just a quarter of them new.

It's a highly spicy, complex aromatic here. Dark red fruit, lots of earthy spice. It delivers depth while staying remarkably light on its feet, and is one of the best drinking of the 2025 Chattos on release.

95 points
"A perfumed pinot noir release from Jim Chatto, with fruit sourced from the Huon Valley... Just the right amount of buoyancy and space here. It has wonderful pure fruits, layers of spice, game and leaf litter, and a lovely mineral cadence to boot."
- Dave Brookes (Halliday Wine Companion)

95 points
"When I first opened this there was a distinct nutmeg aroma but it dissipated with time, and the next day it was gone... I’m not yet fully through all the wines in Chatto’s 2025 range but so far it’s one of the best sets yet produced." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

Chatto Wines

Jim Chatto is revered as one of the finest winemakers currently working in Australia.

His recent reinvigoration at Mount Pleasant in the Hunter Valley has received phenomenal critical acclaim, as has his personal Tasmanian project, Chatto wines.

After purchasing a plot of land that Jim describes as "right on the edge of viticultural possibility", planting began in 2007.

In only a short amount of time, this site has produced some extraordinary wines and looks set to become one of the Apple Isle most prized viticultural assets.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
