Beaujolais is one of the last bastions of great value wine in France where fresh and frisky reds made from the loveable Gamay grape are still approachable enough in price to be enjoyed any night of the week.
Here are six of our favourites that won't bust the bank. It's the perfect way to explore this much-loved French wine region at a great price.
The Dominique Piron Beaujolais-Villages is one of the best value entry-level Beaujolais on the Australian market. Crafted from 100% Gamay sourced from 50-year-old vines, this wine delivers everything you want in a fresh, light-bodied red-bright fruit, natural freshness, and incredible drinkability.
On the nose, bright notes of cherry, raspberry, and pomegranate leap from the glass, while the palate reveals a juicy core supported by crisp acidity and fine tannins. It’s light, crunchy, and wonderfully refreshing, perfect for enjoying with a slight chill. The granite soils and hand-harvested grapes lend a touch of complexity, making this a seriously fun yet refined wine that’s a joy to drink.
Whether you’re looking for a great companion to your next picnic or a versatile red to pair with grilled chicken or salads, this Beaujolais-Villages is our go-to. Delightfully smashable, it’s proof that quality Beaujolais doesn’t have to break the bank!
From a small clay-based vineyard in Beaujolais, Grain d’Argile captures the easy charm of good Gamay with a bit of extra texture and depth. The vineyard is farmed organically, and everything in the cellar is done with a soft touch – spontaneous ferment, no additions, no fining or filtration.
The 2024 vintage has a lively, red-fruited energy to it – bright cherry and cranberry with a subtle herbal edge. There’s a gentle grip from the tannins, but it still feels juicy and light on its feet. The clay soils bring a little roundness to the palate, keeping things supple without losing freshness.
It’s a clean, pure take on Beaujolais, and tremendous value.

"This does gamay great justice, revealing an ultra-drinkable and immediately charming wine. With finesse."
- Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)
Château de La Chaize might be one of the oldest names in Beaujolais, but it’s definitely not stuck in the past. With new energy behind the scenes and a shift toward organics and minimal handling, the wines have taken on a real sense of clarity and charm. This Fleurie shows that shift in full flight.
The fruit comes off old vines grown on the classic pink granite soils of the cru. It’s all handpicked, wild-fermented and aged in a mix of concrete and large old oak, keeping things fresh and letting the vineyard do the talking. There’s nothing fancy or overdone here - just straight-up, delicious Gamay made the right way.
It’s light, savoury and quietly complex, with that gentle Fleurie perfume and a clean, fine-boned structure that makes it dangerously easy to keep going back to.
The highest quality Beaujolais is perhaps at its highest peak ever. But the original, simple beauty and value of wines from this region are captured in the Corcelles.
Sourced from 35 hectares of sandy-clay soils, this wine brings together the richness and expressiveness of the Perreon and Charentay vineyards with the elegance and freshness of the later-ripening Pruzilly vineyards. With an average vine age of 45 years, this wine embodies tradition and quality.
Handpicked by a dedicated team of 150 grape pickers, the grapes undergo traditional semi-carbonic maceration, with a 6-7 day fermentation and pumping over. The wine matures in stainless steel tanks before bottling in the spring, preserving its fresh and lively character.
With its buxom bottle and gutsy dark spiced cherry fruit, it’s a fun red to revel in, whatever the occasion. It's a fantastic wine to share with friends over dinner, or to enjoy by yourself!
Pierre-Marie Chermette (formerly Domaine du Vissoux) is one of the true beacons of quality in Beaujolais, a producer who was championing sustainable farming long before it was fashionable.
'Les Griottes' is named after the grove of wild cherry trees that borders the vineyard in Saint-Vérand. While this is positioned as their approachable, early-drinking cuvée, the vines here are 30 to 40 years old—a serious age for an entry-level wine. Grown on the region's dark granite soils, these vines produce Gamay with genuine depth.
The winemaking remains steadfastly traditional: whole bunches, wild yeasts and semi-carbonic maceration in concrete tanks, followed by a short rest in old oak casks. It is the classic recipe for "real" Beaujolais.
The 2024 vintage was on the cooler side, which has gifted this wine a thirst-quenching energy. As the name suggests, it is packed with bright cherry fruit, alongside notes of blueberry, strawberry and a distinct "cherrystone" tang. It is light-to-medium bodied, crunchy and impossibly easy to drink.
The effortlessly delicious Jean Paul Dubost Beaujolais-Villages Lantignié Rouge is a wine that delivers cru quality at a remarkable value.
Domaine Dubost Morgon, established in 1902, is now helmed by fourth-generation vigneron Jean-Paul Dubost who is dedicated to organic farming and non-interventionist winemaking. Produced using classic semi-carbonic maceration of whole clusters, this Gamay is bottled with minimal intervention, no added sulphur and just a light filtration.
Lantignié is a sub-zone we’ve watched closely - it’s widely considered the "eleventh cru" in waiting because the granite soils here punch way above their weight. This 2024 is a cracker. It’s made with whole clusters and zero added sulphur, giving it that wild, authentic energy we love from the Dubost cellar. It’s bright, brambly, and carries a serious mineral grit that makes it feel far more expensive than the label suggests.
The fruit is crunchy and lifted, woven together with a refreshing acidity that keeps you coming back for another glass. It’s got that moreish, savoury edge and a hint of spice that makes Gamay so addictive. This is pure, unadulterated Beaujolais that’s built for drinking right now.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.
Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.
What that means for you:
- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate
Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.
**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.
If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
We’d love to help you out! Email is usually best but if it’s something urgent or you just really want to have a yarn about wine, food, or even the meaning of life, give us a call — we’re here for you.
