We are very excited to offer a minuscule allocation of some of the most exciting wines we've tried this year - the remarkable white wines of Alheit Vineyards in South Africa.
Alheit Vineyards is the winemaking project of husband and wife Chris and Suzaan Alheit, founded in 2010 with the mission of expressing the unique vinous identity of the Cape and the greatest old vineyards dotted throughout it.
Their wines have received enormous critical acclaim in the ensuing years, culminating in Chris being named a few years ago as Tim Atkin MW's Winemaker of the Year. This 2023 release is no exception, all with great scores and words.
We tried these wines a few months back and were quite honestly blown away. Old vine South African Chenin Blancs (with help from Semillon & friends) are some of the most exhilarating white wines on the planet, and these rare bottlings rank amongst the best.

2023 Alheit Vineyards Fire By Night Chenin Blanc

"Fire by Night comes from the Alheits' Newudam farm, made with grapes from parcels planted between 1972 and 1985 on the Paardeberg. You can taste the granite here, as well as the intensity of dry-farmed old vines: focused, taut and concentrated, with fennel, oatmeal and thatch aromas, subtle wood spices and a flinty, mouth-watering finish. 2025-35"

2023 Alheit Vineyards Huilkrans Chenin Blanc

"Huilkrans comes from Jozua Visser's Oudam farm, located at 450 metres in an isolated spot on Citrusdal Mountain, sometimes called the Skurfberg. Planted between 1974 and 1978, the vines are all dry-farmed, producing yields of almost painful paucity. Fermented in old barrels before ageing on lees for 12 months, this sings with what Chris Alheit calls a baritone voice. Green fig, lime and greengage flavours are complemented by a ferrous undertone and a stony finish. 2025-35"

"After a two year break - best not to spend too long discussing why with Chris Alheit - Magnetic North is back to delight its many fans in 2023. Sourced from vines planted in 1981 and 1984 at 520 metres on the Van Lill farm on Citrusdal Mountain, this is a wine that marries power, depth and incredible focus and finesse. Racy, ferrous and very stony, with lots of underlying structure, notes of oyster shell, pink grapefruit and umami, negligible oak and a tapering finish. 2025-35"

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.
No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.
Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.
What that means for you:
- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate
Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.
**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.
If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
