Description

Amy's is the easiest way into Moss Wood, one of the founding names of Wilyabrup and Margaret River Cabernet. The Mugford family have run the estate for decades and are famous for their detail, and that same care goes into this blend from the Glenmore vineyard a little further north.

2025 was a warm, even season with good water, so the fruit ripened steadily without the rush of hotter years. The blend is 81% Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Malbec and a dash of Petit Verdot, all hand-picked and sorted. It spent 14 months in French barriques, none of them new, and was bottled unfined.

Cabernet leads the way here, with blackcurrant, blueberry and plum, a little violet lift and those cedar and dark chocolate notes Amy's always has in the background. It's medium to full-bodied, with fine tannins, fresh acidity and a more classic, supple feel than the robust 2024. It'll happily sit in the cellar for 8 to 10 years.

Classic vintage, classic Moss Wood polish, and a price that's hard to argue with.

"After the pretty robust 2024, we are back into a more ‘classic’ vintage with 2025... A very nice drink. Quite approachable too."

95 points - "One of the most popular of all the Moss Wood wines. It comes from the Glenmore vineyard a little further north and is a cabernet sauvignon, merlot, malbec and petit verdot blend. Every year it hits the mark with its delivery of beautiful, rich fruit character. Blackcurrant and dark chocolate on the nose, and a succulent and lavish palate that is so exquisitely balanced and poised. This is one of the best." - Ray Jordan (Ray Jordan Wine)

95 points - "A classic Bordeaux Blend style from Margaret River, the wine is 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 8% Malbec and 3% Petit Verdot. It is worth mentioning that if you really want to get your full wine geek on, no other winery in the country provides as much and as intricate detail about their wines as these guys do. Definitely worth checking out their website (you doubt me? You want to know the Baume of each of those varieties and the date on which they were each harvested, it is all there). Maturation was in French oak barriques, none of them new. Deep magenta with a plum rim, this is a really exciting wine and helps to confirm the reports of 2025 being something very special. Whilst one should be happy with what is to hand and not playing the ‘grass is greener’ card, if this wine is this good then Moss Wood’s Cabernet from the same vintage might be yet another tour de force. The nose here gives us aromas of chocolate, cassis, leather, truffles, tobacco leaves, aniseed and plums. The structure is seamless with immaculate balance and the wine is well focused with excellent length. It finishes with silky tannins. Still youthful and fresh, it surely has at least another dozen years ahead of it. And what incredible value." - Ken Gargett (Wine Pilot)

93 points - "81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 8% Malbec and 3% Petit Verdot. After the pretty robust 2024, we are back into a more ‘classic’ vintage with 2025. Blue and black fruit, raspberry jubes, roses and chocolate box, black olive and nori, light cedar oak and spice. It’s medium-bodied, quite supple in the tannin department, just a quiet grainy grip on offer here, a light glycerol feel lends a certain slipperiness, some savoury nutty flavour and milk chocolate, again the blue fruits with an iodine-laced finish of good length. A very nice drink. Quite approachable too." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

Tasting Notes
Colour and Condition: Deep brick red; bright condition.

Nose: Lifted and fragrant, with Cabernet Sauvignon leading the way through aromas of blackcurrant, blueberry and redcurrant. Plum and blackberry add depth, with violet and red liquorice providing further lift. In the background are the more complex notes typical of Amy's, with cedar, dark chocolate and subtle spice.

Palate: The palate is medium to full-bodied, with generous blackcurrant, blueberry and plum flavours providing good concentration and length. The fruit sits over a firm but balanced structure, with fresh acidity providing definition and fine tannins giving the wine shape without dominating. Subtle cedar, chocolate and liquorice notes add complexity through the finish, while the generosity of fruit gives the wine the approachability we look for in Amy's.

Vintage Notes
The 2025 growing season was warm and generally even, with good water availability and favourable conditions allowing the varieties to progress steadily through ripening. The season provided ample warmth for full flavour development without the accelerated ripening experienced in some warmer years.

Malbec was the first variety harvested, on 18th March at 13.3° Baume, followed by Cabernet Sauvignon on 27th March at 13.8° Baume. Petit Verdot was picked on 2nd April at 14.0° Baume, with Merlot completing the harvest on 3rd April at 13.5° Baume.

All four varieties arrived at the winery in excellent condition and free of disease.

Production Notes
The fruit was hand-picked and delivered to the winery, where it was hand-sorted and destemmed. The must was then pumped into stainless steel closed fermenters and inoculated for primary fermentation. Pump-overs were conducted three times per day to enhance colour and flavour extraction.

After 14 days on skins, the wine was pressed, and both primary and malolactic fermentation were completed in stainless steel tanks. Following fermentation, the wine was racked to 228-litre French oak barriques, none of which were new.

The wine remained in barrel for 14 months, before being racked and blended in stainless steel. Fining trials were conducted to assess tannin balance, but the wine showed no improvement and therefore remained unfined. The Moss Wood 2025 Amy's was then sterile filtered and bottled on 30th June 2026.

Cellaring
Amy's is made to be approachable and enjoyable as a young wine, with generous fruit and balanced tannins providing plenty of immediate appeal. The 2025 can certainly be enjoyed now for its vibrant Cabernet fruit and freshness.

For those who prefer some bottle development, careful cellaring over the next 8 to 10 years will see the youthful berry characters gradually evolve and the wine develop more complex cedar, chocolate and savoury notes.

Moss Wood

Started by the pioneering Bill and Sandra Pannell in 1969, Moss Wood is one of the legendary names in the Australian wine industry, helping establish Margaret River as a world-class wine region.

Located in the northern sub–region of Wilyabrup, current owners Clare & Keith Mugford have been growing the winery's reputation and range since the mid 1980s. The Cabernet Sauvignon is one of Australia's greatest wines, the Chardonnay is exceptional, and the Ribbon Vale range represents excellent value for Margaret River.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
