Description

Savagnin in the right hands is always going to turn heads, and considered our heads well and truly turned with this ripper! Foreign Friends continues to impress, and since launching in 2023 they’ve produced wines with real personality and approachability.

The winemaking here for 'Jeanne' was all about building layers - as is the way with quality Savagnin. The grapes were cold-soaked on skins before a wild ferment in old French barriques, followed by ten months of ageing on lees. This time in wood and on lees has given the wine a gently creamy, nutty mealiness and a depth of flavour that sets it apart from more straightforward whites.

The nose is super aromatic, showing ginger spice, peach, and nectarine alongside an assortment of florals. The palate is where it's at though - focused and driven with juicy fruits but serious texture and structure.

A complex wine that gives you all the interest of this variety without losing freshness and drinkability. Bravo!

"Another top release of a wine that excites the palate, combining complexity, a lingering savouriness and a juicy freshness. It makes for a most charming and un-put-down-able wine."
- Jeni Port (Halliday Wine Companion)

94 points - "Lovely start. Pronounced perfume that promises texture and depth of flavour. A basket of fruit: aromatic pears, bitter lemons, red apples and cherries. Another layer is made of spice and nutty goodness; there are almonds and gingerbread here, a pinch of pepper, a drop of honey for balance. Texture, as promised, with plenty of mouthwatering bitter lime acidity, medicinal-herbal aftertaste, spicy traction throughout. Lovely finish." - Kasia Sobiesiak The Wine Front)

94 points - "Crushed, wild ferment in small format, neutral oak, aged 10 months on lees. Another top release of a wine that excites the palate, combining complexity, a lingering savouriness and a juicy freshness. It makes for a most charming and un-put-down-able wine. Ripe lemon citrus, stone fruits, red apple, spring blossom and honeysuckle aromas. Concentrated on the palate, with an additional layer of nutty mealiness and preserved lemon that brings with it an impressive depth of flavour as well as length. Gently creamy across the tongue, with a lemony tang to close. An exciting find." - Jeni Port (Halliday Wine Companion)

Meet 'Jeanne.' She has a beautiful aromatic bouquet with notes of spices like dried ginger, and white fruits; peach and nectarine, becoming more floral as it sits in the glass. On the palate, this wine is very fresh and focused, offering lots of texture with vibrant acidity.

These Savagnin grapes began their journey amongst the honey hued trees of the high country. From there, they were cold soaked on skins, fermented, then aged in French barriques over the winter and spring, arriving here to make your acquaintance today.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
