Description

The 1314 Pinot Noir is Bannockburn’s way of ensuring you don't have to wait a decade to enjoy their wines. While it is designed to be the "drink now" option in the portfolio, the pedigree here is serious.

This isn't just a collection of off-cuts; it includes fruit from estate vines planted as far back as 1976, alongside 1997 and 2004 blocks. That is significant vine age for a wine at this price point.

Winemaker Matt Holmes uses about 15% whole bunch and a touch of carbonic maceration here. That technical tweak is crucial - it lifts the aromatics and gives the wine a bright, crunchy energy. It spends seven months in French oak hogsheads (15% new) to settle, but the fruit stays front and center.

In the glass, it is a riot of raspberries, cherries and bramble, with a distinct waft of rose petal. It is supple and textural, with fine tannins that provide just enough grip to remind you this is proper Geelong Pinot. Sophisticated, charming and punching well above its weight.

"Such a pleasure. This is a lovely expression of Pinot Noir. It’s earthen and undergrowth-y and cherried and spicy, with squeaky/grapey tannin and a keen juiciness through the finish. 100% yes to this. This wine has Bannockburn written all over it."

91 points - "All estate fruit and made with 15% whole bunches. A medium, bright ruby. Dark fruits, spice and a little oak lead onto the mouth-coating, firmly structured palate. Still quite closed, as you'd expect, but this will all come together over the next six months or so." - Philip Rich (Halliday Wine Companion)

Super smooth

An amazing Pinot … so easy to drink with a richness in taste that would be worthy of much bigger reds. Great buy

Excellent

Very enjoyable Pinot Noir. Unashamedly fruit driven, an underlying spice note and subtle tannins on the finish prevent things from being too simple.

1314 Pinot Noir is from a blend of vineyard sites from our property, primarily clones MV6, 114 and 115, planted in 1976, 1997 and 2004. The 2025 vintage is a barrel selection based on an earlier bottling regime and younger drinking window.

Winemaking
Each parcel was fermented with indigenous yeast with around 15% whole bunch, including a portion of carbonic maceration. The wine was matured for 7 months in mostly hogsheads, with 15% new oak.

Tasting Note
Aromas of raspberries, cherries, and brambly fruits combine with a lively, energetic character and a delicate rose petal perfume, making the wine immediately inviting. The palate is supple and textural, continuing the riot of berries with hints of spice, while fine, persistent tannins provide structure and balance. Layered and elegant, the wine carries through to a long, refined finish, showing charm and sophistication well beyond its price point.

Bannockburn

For over 50 years, Bannockburn has been a quiet force in Australian fine wine. The story began in 1974 when Stuart Hooper discovered and planted this now-iconic site in Victoria’s Moorabool Valley. In 1978, Gary Farr joined as winemaker, bringing a Burgundian lens that helped define the estate’s identity.

Today, Matt Holmes leads the winemaking, first stepping in for the 2005 vintage and returning permanently in 2015 after Michael Glover’s departure. Holmes’ style is thoughtful and site-first - guided by organics, minimal intervention, and an intuitive feel for balance. His Chardonnays are chiseled and composed. The Pinot Noirs - more precise than ever - are some of Victoria's best.

Viticulturist Lucas Grigsby, a 30-year veteran, tends the vines with the same hands-on, regenerative mindset. Together, they farm sustainably - straw mulching, composting, and nurturing cover crops - all to express the site with absolute clarity.

Bannockburn’s single-vineyard range tells the deeper story. S.R.H. Chardonnay draws tension and salinity from ancient marine sediments. The iconic Serré vineyard, planted densely in 1984, channels a Grand Cru sensibility. These are wines shaped by place, not ego. They hum with Burgundian influence, but speak fluently in an Australian accent.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
