Description

Susan and Michael Papps have built their reputation on giving Barossa classics a fresher, more approachable spin. Their wines always carry generosity, but never feel heavy, and this Shiraz is a great example of that balance.

Fruit comes from a handful of old-vine sites across the valley, including their own Greenock vineyard. A touch of whole bunch in the ferment adds perfume and texture, while a gentle hand in the cellar keeps everything bright and drinkable.

It's a tasty, fresh-faced Shiraz that’s juicy and plummy with hints of spice and soft tannins, sitting at a very friendly 12.9% alcohol. It’s got all the hallmarks of Barossa Shiraz, just in a style that’s more about midweek drinking than cellaring.

Great value, easy to love, and a reminder of why Yelland & Papps have become one of our go-to producers for modern Barossa wines.

95 points - "Using that whole cluster and early picking approach that was adopted with the Grenache Cinsault Mourvèdre blend, the result is a wine of immense vibrancy and energy. It was treated fairly kindly in the winery, with natural fermentation in open fermenters, and then time in oak before basket pressing. It only had a short time in oak, but that was an important part of the process, bringing everything together in a harmonious way. Lovely jubey red fruits with those cherry, plummy mulberry characters evident. Smooth, textured, with almost no oak evident, but the fruit is exceptional." - Ray Jordan (Wine Pilot)

Poor

I thought this was poor. Acidic, no depth, and no better than many other wines at this price. Maybe my taste buds are gone but how does this score a 95?

Our approachable take on Barossa Shiraz is generous, vibrant, and made to be shared. The YP Shiraz blends parcels from across the valley, including fruit declassified from our single vineyard selections, giving us the freedom to craft a wine purely for enjoyment, without compromising on quality. Wild-fermented and matured in seasoned French oak, the 2024 release delivers plush dark fruit, warm spice, and a soft, savoury finish. Blackberry, baking chocolate, and a flicker of black pepper glide over a supple frame of fine tannins. Made to drink now or over the next few years, this is your midweek red, unfussy, expressive, and unmistakably Barossa.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
