Description

Pierre-Marie Chermette (formerly Domaine du Vissoux) is one of the true beacons of quality in Beaujolais, a producer who was championing sustainable farming long before it was fashionable.

'Les Griottes' is named after the grove of wild cherry trees that borders the vineyard in Saint-Vérand. While this is positioned as their approachable, early-drinking cuvée, the vines here are 30 to 40 years old—a serious age for an entry-level wine. Grown on the region's dark granite soils, these vines produce Gamay with genuine depth.

The winemaking remains steadfastly traditional: whole bunches, wild yeasts and semi-carbonic maceration in concrete tanks, followed by a short rest in old oak casks. It is the classic recipe for "real" Beaujolais.

The 2024 vintage was on the cooler side, which has gifted this wine a thirst-quenching energy. As the name suggests, it is packed with bright cherry fruit, alongside notes of blueberry, strawberry and a distinct "cherrystone" tang. It is light-to-medium bodied, crunchy and impossibly easy to drink.

    Smooth French drinking

I have purchased this wine several times in recent years. It is my "go to" drop when I don't want a big or heavy wine with meals. It is particularly suited to warmer weather days and goes well with most dishes as it does not dominate the palate. A good and reliable wine for me that sets a benchmark for mid-level beaujolais drinking.

Lovely, a little more going on that in others in this style and love the dedication to organic production

    Great

    One of my favourites

This mouthwatering crowd-pleaser is named after a grove of cherry trees that flank the vineyard. The fruit comes from 30- to 40-year-old Gamay vines, grown in dark granite soils around the Chermette homestead in Saint-Vérand, southern Beaujolais. In contrast to his age-worthy Crus from Moulin-à-Vent and Fleurie et al., Chermette aims to produce something light-to-medium-bodied, bright and cherry-fruited with reach-for-another-glass charm.

The winemaking has remained unchanged for decades. Traditional whole-bunch, semi-carbonic fermentation in concrete tanks followed by maturation in tank and old oak casks are still the order of the day.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
