Description

This joyous wine is sourced from two Nebbiolo vineyards in the Colbinabbin subregion of Heathcote, known for its iron rich soils.

Pat Underwood works cleverly in the winery treating the two parcels separately then combining them with a touch of magic to create an expression of the grape that is as unique as it is great value.

Raspberry, cherry, bitter orange, amaro, herbs, musk stick, this wine is full of surprises. Imagine oh so serious Nebbiolo cutting loose in Lanzarote... it's wild, energetic, and more fun than you ever knew possible!

It’s a very light weight red of crunch and zest, great energy and thirst-quenching vitality. Cranberry drink, pomegranate juice, rose hip tea and general cherry and red berry freshness. A bit slick then finishes with saline, minerally freshness. Nice. Cool red of general ease of drinking in the vogue of chillable reds and tartness, dryness and light savoury detail. Willoughby Bridge Vineyard, Colbinabbin, Heathcote G.I

So bright in the glass, with transparency that promises the drinkability to come.
Sexy perfume—blackberry bush (sappy and fruity), crushed fresh cherries, and a wet rock/gravelly mineral aroma that gives all this fruity fun a seriously alluring edge.
Bright red candied cherries are cut with a salivating amaro-like bitterness, reminiscent of a great negroni without the sugar. Lots of fresh mint, dill, and rosemary in the glass.
Tight-grained tannins keep the wine vertical and long.

A perfume and fruit explosion from a unique site. Made without any additions.

Vineyard
A Block and C Block at Willoughby Bridge Vineyard.
Both planted to CVT230 clone Nebbiolo, grafted in 2016 on very fine, iron- and clay-rich soils. North–South orientation.

Winemaking
An early-harvested, direct-pressed free-run rosé from A Block was picked on 19th February and fermented in old puncheons, where healthy yeast were encouraged with air circulation.

C Block was picked a few days later, destemmed, and inoculated with a large amount of the earlier harvested A Block. Fermentation proceeded undisturbed. It was pressed at six days to stainless steel, with a further addition of the earlier A Block ferment post-pressing.

The wine was exposed to oxygen early to help yeast complete fermentation and support tannin resolution.

Once settled, it was racked to old puncheons and hogsheads. Only the most aromatic and slinky barrels were selected for the final Super Juice blend.

Bottled without addition or filtration.
