Description

"If there is a poster child for the wines of the ‘New Spain’, then Envínate is a strong candidate."
- Luis Gutierrez (The Wine Advocate)

Envínate’s Parcela Margalagua is the absolute crown jewel of their Tenerife lineup, sourced from a single, steep vineyard in the wild, coastal Taganana zone. The ancient, pre-phylloxera vines are a field blend dominated by Negramoll and Listán Negro, interplanted with about 10% white Listán Blanco. Grown on red basalt volcanic soils rich in iron and sand, this iconic red completely avoids heavy extraction to deliver one of the most ethereal, mineral-driven wines on the planet.

The 2024 growing season was small but spectacular for Taganana, turning out a lighter, more precise, and highly elegant expression compared to the richer 2023. The team fermented the fruit with 100% full clusters in concrete tanks, letting the wild maceration run for nearly a month before aging the wine in neutral oak barrels for nine months on its lees without any racking or sulfur. This meticulous, hands-off approach locked in a level of laser-sharp precision that makes this release a total career high.

It starts quite closed in the glass before slowly opening up to elegant floral aromas, dry rose petals, black peppercorns, and wet pumice stone. The palate is light-to-medium-bodied but packed with subtle complexity, balancing its fresh wild-berry fruit with a super fine, sandy tannin texture and a long, vibrant volcanic energy.

It is an incredibly scarce, world-class cult red that swaps sweet, simple fruit for pure, high-fidelity terroir.

"They have fine-tuned the work in the vineyard and with the lees, and the wines have gained in precision and complexity. 2024 is a lighter vintage than 2023, and the wine has an ethereal character that I like very much."

98+ points - "The 2024 Táganan Parcela Margalagua starts quite closed and is subtler. They have fine-tuned the work in the vineyard and with the lees, and the wines have gained in precision and complexity. 2024 is a lighter vintage than 2023, and the wine has an ethereal character that I like very much. This comes from red basalt soils with more iron but with a sandy texture that gives finesse, and it comes from ancient vines, a field blend with mostly Negramoll and Listán Negro and 10% Listán Blanco. In 2024, they fermented it with 100% full clusters and no temperature control in concrete with around 25 to 28 days of maceration, and the wine matured in neutral 228-liter barrels for nine months without racking or sulfur, during which time it went through malolactic fermentation. It opens up to elegant floral aromas and the textbook descriptors (dry rose petals, black peppercorns and wet pumice stone) in a subtle and balanced way. 1,800 bottles were filled in July 2025.

I tasted the bottled 2024s (and the bottled 2023 Migan) from Tenerife with Roberto Santana from Envínate in the middle of their 2025 harvest. 2024 was dry, similar to 2023, with uneven sprouting because of a warm winter, and they had to do a green harvest to correct that. There weren't any heat waves during the summer or harvest, and the harvest was early but not as early as 2023. It was a small crop for reds but very good—quality and quantity—for whites, all of them put through 100% malolactic. 2024 is the best year for La Santa. In Taganana, the style of the reds resembles 2021 or 2022, and the whites might resemble the style of 2023 but with more freshness.

In Tenerife, they work 18 hectares of the 22.5 hectares they control, and they own around 7.5 hectares, with three to five of them in Taganana. In 2024, they produced close to 80,000 bottles, a little less than in 2023." - Luis Gutiérrez (The Wine Advocate)

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
