Description

Rob and Genevieve Mann are no strangers to the Margaret River "old guard," but Corymbia is where they’ve torn up the traditional playbook. Sourced from their organically farmed Calgardup Vineyard—an ancient granite and gravel site just 2km from Redgate Beach—this is coastal Cabernet at its most stripped-back and honest.

The 2024 (the sixth release of this wine) is a direct nod to Rob’s grandfather, the legendary Jack Mann, but the style is decidedly unorthodox. There is no new oak here and no glossy winemaking tricks. The fruit is hand-sorted and aged in large, neutral barrels to ensure the "graphite" tannin framework of the vineyard isn't smothered by wood.

The resulting 2024 bottling is a svelt, high-definition Cabernet that values detail over raw power. It’s beautifully medium-bodied, showing leafy aromatics, dark fruit, and fine-boned tannins. It has a distinct salt-spray, coastal energy that sets it apart from the heavier styles typical of the region. It’s a pure, unadorned, and a unique expression of Cabernet that we absolutely love.

"A pure, fine-boned and extremely elegant expression of cabernet... An exceptional release that speaks fluently of vineyard and place, while providing immense satisfaction in the high-quality stakes division."
- Mike Bennie (Halliday Wine Companion)

"This is a distinctive wine that I love each vintage, and given the quality (attention to detail) of the viticulture, the wine looks good/distinct/sophisticated in every season."

"Lithe and athletic. Long limbs and wiry musculature. Blackcurrant and black cherry, rubbed rosemary and flowering sage. Dutch licorice and konbu. Composed and complete, deftly poised and proudly mid-weight. A deep, shaley minerality and taut, highly-pixelated tannins."

96 points - "The 2024 Cabernet Sauvignon leads with cassis and bramble, lavender, raspberry seed, dark chocolate, blood plum and a hint of nori. The palate is shaped by chalky tannins that move with the shape of the fruit in the mouth. This is all about dried herbs—sage and bay in particular—blue fruits and licorice, star anise and that top-order register of rising spices that move into "mint" without being "minty." This is a distinctive wine that I love each vintage, and given the quality (attention to detail) of the viticulture, the wine looks good/distinct/sophisticated in every season." - Erin Larkin (The Wine Advocate)

96 points - "A pure, fine-boned and extremely elegant expression of cabernet. An almost refreshing feel, squeaky in texture, shimmering with fine, high-quality tannin, detailed with salt bush, bay lead and salted licorice amongst dark plum, cassis, cola and green olive fruit characters. The perfume is evocative, the flavours in harmony and stretched luxuriously to a fine, trailing herb 'n' peppery spice mix finish. An exceptional release that speaks fluently of vineyard and place, while providing immense satisfaction in the high-quality stakes division." - Mike Bennie (Halliday Wine Companion)

96 points - "The 2024 Cabernet Sauvignon Calgardup Vineyard immediately impresses with bold blackcurrant and black olive aromas that are forceful and display a strong, muscular shape. Powerful flavors of licorice, gravel and graphite are well matched to deep-set tannins as the wine ripples with youthful intensity. A fabulous structural finish of immense length is the icing on the cake." - By Angus Hughson (Vinous)

95 points - "This is a powerful expression from this vineyard. Black fruit, iodine, liquorice, samphire, roasted nuts, chamomile and dried roses. It’s medium to full-bodied, quite ferrous and firm, lots of gravel and grip to it, there’s almost a peaty character here, then blue and black fruit, some juicy raspberry, balanced acidity, with a saline green olive and dried herb finish of excellent length. There’s a Sagrantino sort of thing happening here, Italianate in a way, and thoroughly nourishing in another. Outstanding." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

Beautiful wine

Corymbia is a newish shining star to watch out for - quality wine from quality winemakers

This wine embodies our heritage, our future and our dreams. The realisation of a dream seeded by Rob’s grandfather, Jack Mann. Rob recalls being allowed to taste a 1971 Houghton Cabernet at dinner with Jack and his wife Angela at just 10 years old and decided there and then that Cabernet was his future. It’s a privilege to see that dream come to life. Unorthodox in style, this is a unique expression of Margaret River Cabernet.

The sixth release of Corymbia Cabernet Sauvignon, from our Margaret River Calgardup Vineyard. The vineyard is positioned towards the southern end of Margaret River, just 2km inland from Redgate Beach. It sits surrounded by native bush and the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park. After 15 years of searching, we are now the custodians of this land. Calgardup Vineyard sits atop an ancient granite outcrop, weathered over 1.2 billion years of time, to reveal a Keenan gravel loam that is perfectly suited to growing Cabernet Sauvignon. The purity, delineate fruit characters and graphite framework are the hallmarks of this site. Variety, place and experience woven together to redefine what’s possible.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
