Description
The Chalmers family are the undisputed pioneers of Italian grape varieties in Australia, and the 2024 Falanghina is another feather in their cap. Imported by the family in 2015, this is the 'Beneventana' clone, a variety that hails from the mountains behind Naples rather than the coast. Unlike its fruity coastal cousin, this clone delivers a more savoury and mineral profile that is perfectly suited to the ancient soils of Heathcote.
Grown on a complex mix of basalt, shale and sandstone, this is a white wine with serious tension. It was hand-picked and whole bunch pressed before wild fermentation in stainless steel. Crucially, it spent 10 months on fine lees to build texture but saw no acid additions. The result is pure, racy and intense.
Expect lifted aromas of lemon blossom, lime conserve and Thai basil. On the palate, it has a 'river stone' minerality and a kick of pink peppercorn spice. It possesses the tension and drive of a good Riesling but with a distinct Italian twist. It is absolutely perfect for aromatic, zesty dishes like a Thai Green Curry or Portuguese clams.

Our warehouse is automated so unless you tell us otherwise, we will ship your order. No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.
If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
