Description

This is a 50/50 split between two standout sites: one in the sandy, high-altitude slopes of Piekenierskloof, the other down in Voor-Paardeberg on old granite. Different soils, different climates - but both bring something essential to the final blend.

Up in Piekenierskloof, cooler nights and bright sun help build thicker skins and tighter structure. Down in Voor-Paardeberg, it’s all about that afternoon wind - the so-called Table Bay air-conditioner - keeping things fresh and slowing ripening. The result? A wine with proper energy, depth, and shape.

Fermented and raised in old 500L barrels, it’s got plenty going on without tipping into heaviness. There’s stone fruit, citrus, maybe a bit of herbs and reduction if you catch it young. The acidity cuts through the weight nicely, giving it that push and pull you want in this kind of white.

Only 1,400 bottles made, and it feels like every one was given proper care. Not loud or showy - just a seriously well-made Cape white that’s built to last, but easy to enjoy now.

"Expressive aromatics of pear, peach, herbs... robust palate with dense fruit, bright acidity and savoury wine."
- Christian Eedes

95 points - "A 50:50 blend of Piekenierskloof and Voor-Paardeberg grapes. Matured for eight months in older 500-litre barrels. Expressive aromatics of pear, peach, herbs, a hint of pineapple and a touch of reduction while the palate is robust with dense fruit, bright acidity and savoury wine. Alc: 13.2%." - Christian Eedes

Wolf & Woman Grenache Blanc is a blend of grapes from two different vineyards and regions. One grows in the Voor-Paardeberg region in granitic soils. The singular nature of the terroir of the Voor-Paardeberg is underpinned by the influence of the South Westerly wind which starts to blow here in the afternoon. Viticulturers call this wind the ‘Table Bay air-conditioner”. It allows the vineyards to cool down at night, which means the grapes ripen slower and maintain their acidity better.

The second vineyard grows in Piekenierskloof Mountains, at an altitude of 650m above sea level, in sandstone soils. Grapes that grow at higher altitude encounter a larger variance between day and night temperatures – the cold nights preserve acidity in grapes and results in fresher wines. High altitudes also enjoy more intense sunlight, so grapes grow thicker skins, which results in more intense flavour and tighter tannins.
