Description

Rippon Vineyard sits on the shores of Lake Wanaka in Central Otago, one of New Zealand’s most striking wine regions. The Mills family have farmed here for over a century, with Nick Mills now the fourth generation to guide the land. His biodynamic approach is all about healthy soils and letting the site speak for itself.

The fruit comes from mature Riesling vines whose roots reach deep into the schist rock beneath. That depth brings concentration and a distinct mineral edge. Fermentation is slow and gentle, with extended time on skins and lees to build texture and savoury complexity.

In the glass there’s a fine balance of freshness and grip, with phenolic structure stretching the flavours long. Citrus, subtle stone fruit and savoury notes sit over a clean line of acidity. It’s vibrant now but will reward cellaring for years.

A Riesling that captures the character of its place – pure, structured and shaped by vines with real history.

96 points
"A distinctly different and singular style of wine which reveals more and more as it unfurls on the long, off-dry finish. Captivating and delicious with a long life ahead."
- Stephen Wong MW (Real Review)

96 points - "Exotic perfumes of manuka honey and ripe, almost musky stone-fruits reprise with impressive concentration on the weighty, powerful palate as savoury lees-aged complexity weaves seemlessly into the main fruit refrain. A distinctly different and singular style of wine which reveals more and more as it unfurls on the long, off-dry finish. Captivating and delicious with a long life ahead." - Stephen Wong (Real Review)

95 points - "Mineral and fruit-driven aromas of candied lime zest, gunsmoke, orange blossoms and slate. The medium-bodied palate has a laserlike acidity and generous texture from 10 g/L of residual sweetness, giving notes of lemon tart, grapefruit pith, mandarin peel and red-apple skin. A slight phenolic edge from one day on the skins lingers on the long-lasting finish. Drink or hold." - James Suckling (James Suckling)

I could swim in this wine

Luscious and lush. My usual preference for steely slatey rieslings was blown away buy the generous energy of this wine. All who tried it at the table had the same head snapping reaction- hey that’s nice! Lush and thirst quenching, I wish I could swim in it.

The fruit is issued from Rippon’s mature vines, whose root hairs have invaded the schist rock below. Lurking towards the end of the first mouthful is substantial phenolic power and it soon starts to take charge of the wine… and give it its sense of place.

Rippon

Rippon Vineyard is one of the most breathtaking sites in Central Otago.

For over a century the Mills family has farmed this small patch of earth on the banks of Lake Wanaka. Nick Mills is the fourth generation of his family to walk the rows on Rippon. He now farms the site according to biodynamic principles.

The Mills family and Rippon are intrinsically linked. There's a deep connection to the land which Nick translates into their superlative wines.

Pinot Noir, Gamay, Riesling and Gewürztraminer all excel at Rippon. The wines are made with patience and love.

In the wines of Rippon, you can sense everything that is transcendent about terroir-driven winemaking where the story of a place is told through the wines it produces.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
