Description

The Morgeot Premier Cru is drawn from two distinct parcels, Fairendes and Abbaye de Morgeot. The vines in Les Fairendes are serious old-timer stock, with half planted way back in 1964 and the rest in 1974. The soil here shifts dramatically as you move down the slope, moving from shallow, stony red dirt into a heavier, compacted white clay. It is this unique soil profile that gives the wine its structural duality, blending stony lift with real mid-palate authority.

In the glass, it shows a pale colour with a light green tint. The nose is surprisingly restrained, showing none of the heavy, muscular character you might expect from Morgeot. Instead, there is a gentle backdrop of white fruit that slowly unfurls. Pierre-Yves picked this parcel a bit later, on the 6th of September, which gives the wine a lovely sense of volume and presence.

Interestingly, this is the only cuvee where the team take extra time to settle the juice before fermentation, a technique they found prevents the sluggish ferments this site was prone to in the past. As the wine rolls across the tongue, that heavy clay soil really kicks in, driving a solid, long finish that is incredibly satisfying. It’s a plush yet tightly wound white Burgundy that will drink beautifully from 2028 out to 2034.

91-94 points - "Pale colour with a light green tint. Quite restrained, certainly not muscular on the nose. White fruit in the background, more weight on the palate as the clay kicks in, a solid long finish, very satisfying. Picked on the 6th which also explains the volume. The only one where they take the time to settle the juice as in the past it has not always fermented easily. Drink from 2028-2034. Tasted Oct 2024." - Jasper Morris MW (Inside Burgundy)

Importer's Notes:

From 2 parcels; Fairendes and Abbaye de Morgeot. Half of the vines in "Les Fairendes" were planted in 1964 and the remainder in 1974. This parcel has deeper soil where rocks break the surface. Up-slope, the stony red soil is shallow but gets deeper lower down the slope where the soil is white, heavy, compacted and clayey.

Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey

Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey, often known simply as PYCM, is the husband and wife team of Pierre-Yves Colin and Caroline Morey - a meeting of families steeped in Burgundian tradition.

Pierre-Yves is the eldest son of the Marc Colin, where he worked until 2005 - he established his own negociant business and domaine from family vineyards he inherited. His star has been rising ever since, making electric wines from parcels across Saint Aubin, Puligny, Meursault, Corton and his home commune of Chassagne.

The wines are pure and driven, with no batonnage (lees-stirring), only natural yeasts, and no fining or filtering. The corks are extra-long and bottles wax-sealed to avoid any possibility of premature oxidation. He builds white wines for the long haul.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
