Description

Nick Spencer is constantly exploring the possibilities of winemaking in the NSW High Country and with his latest experiment, this delightful little Gamay from Tumbarumba, he's onto another huge win.

The inspiration for this wine comes from a recent pilgrimage to Beaujolais, the birthplace of Gamay. This adventure inspired a shift in focus for Nick, away from Pinot Noir to Gamay, Nick believing this friendly red variety is better suited as a light red to 'warmer' cool-climate regions like Tumbarumba going forward.

As with all of the P.A.R. series wines, this was fermented and aged entirely in Nick's small grenade-like amphora, preserving the natural energy and verve of the variety without the influence of oak. It shows classic varietal signatures of sour cherries, strawberries, and a touch of spice. The palate is juicy and lively, with juicy cherry and cranberry notes, a silky texture, and refreshing acidity. It's the quintessential chillable red. For a frame of reference from Beaujolais - this would sit in the prettier mode ala Fleurie rather than the darker more brooding wines of crus like Morgon. But of course, it's entirely its own thing.

If you enjoy Pinot Noir, or any friskier, chillable style of red, you'll love Nick's Gamay. There were only 120 dozen made in total and it won't be available anywhere else outside of Nick's own members. So if you want to sample it, now's your chance!

"During our visit to Beaujolais, we witnessed firsthand the remarkable potential of Gamay... Intrigued by its versatility and charm, we made the deliberate decision to shift our focus from Pinot Noir to Gamay for future vintages."

"Sarsaparilla, and so much of that, along with mint, cherry, cranberry and dried flowers. It’s medium-bodied, sappy, all the strawberry, spice and red cherry, fine sandy tannin, almond, cherry and again that cranberry crunch on a finish of good length. Frisky. Interesting. A very nice wine all up. Refreshing and good."

Converted the entire table to chilled reds

This wine converted a table of sceptical Qlders from "red wine doesn't go in the fridge" to "how do you spell Beaujolais?". Fresh strawberries, cherries and a crunchy finish. Best local Gamay to date.

Nick Spencer Wines

Nick Spencer is one of NSW's most decorated winemakers. Over the span of more than two decades, he has become perhaps the state's most outspoken advocate for the potential of the regions of the NSW High Country, in particular, Tumbarumba and Gundagai.

Nick's wines exemplify balance, style, immense drinkability and exceptional value for money. As his label has expanded, his winemaking has become more adventurous, now incorporating the use of amphora, sulphur-free bottlings and a more stripped-back winemaking style to highlight the quality of the fruit that these lesser-known NSW regions can produce.

He is one of the most important producers in NSW today and is the touchstone of quality for the state.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
