Description

If you're a fan of Australian Riesling, then Frankland Estate's Isolation Ridge release just has to be in your cellar.

This wine really paints the picture of what Hunter Smith and the Frankland Estate team believe Great Southern Riesling should taste like.

These are organically-grown, single vineyard wines of startling purity and intensity. Absolutely top of the Riesling tree in Aus.

The Frankland Estate wines are truly one of the country's premier Rieslings. Try them while you can!

96 points & Top 100 Wines of 2024
"One of the great rieslings of Australia. This is textural as much as pure, with lime blossom, ginger flower and a touch of beeswax. Flavours of Bickford's lime cordial, lemon curd, mandarin and zest caress the palate; the talcy-fine acidity is lipsmacking."
- Jane Faulkner (Halliday Wine Companion)

"By any measure – aroma, flavour, structure, length and complexity – this is a stunning Riesling."
- Jeni Port (Wine Pilot)

"A wine of balletic balance with a
piercing acid line of jaw dropping intensity and drive. A masterclass in coiled tension, restrained power and the beauty of Frankland River riesling."

97 points - "By any measure – aroma, flavour, structure, length and complexity – this is a stunning Riesling. And that vibrant, pulsing acidity offers a winemaking Masterclass in itself. It is intricately woven throughout the wine, essential and complete but never intrusive, a fact that winemaker Hunter Smith puts down to picking fruit slightly riper than he once did. Super fragrant and lifted in the heady scent of spring flowers, citrus blossom, lime zest, lemongrass and spice. Elegant and poised from start to long finish, Isolation Ridge fills the mouth with an intensity of citrus – lime and lemon – exotic spice notes, hints of ginger, lemon skin and lemongrass all beautifully melded by the aforementioned acidity. Nine months on lees and time in oak (10%) brings greater depth and an engaging umami mouthfeel, just a little, that helps heighten the whole delightful tasting experience." - Jeni Port (Wine Pilot)

97 points. - "Sourced from the original 1988 plantings on ironstone gravels over clay. Some guava and dried mango
exoticism, makrut lime leaves and wet stones. It's super precise and poised, a wine of balletic balance with a
piercing acid line of jaw dropping intensity and drive. A masterclass in coiled tension, restrained power and the
beauty of Frankland River riesling." - Nick Ryan, The Weekend Australian April 2024

95 points - "Apple, lime, a sort of Chinese jasmine tea smell about it (don’t mind me, though it does make me fancy some
yum cha!), maybe some aniseed too. It’s rich and powerful in flavour, apple, apricot, and ripe lime, fine chalky
texture, and there’s some sweetness here too, though whether it’s residual sugar, or fruit power, I know not,
but there is something of a barley sugar/honey thing happening here. The finish is long and firm, with a subtle
parmesan rind savoury character. Very nice." - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front April 2024

97 points - "One of the very best Isolation Ridge rieslings produced. It’s from an exceptional vintage showing the pristine purity and minerally tension of great rieslings. Comes from a combination of clones planted in 1988. Now this
is not your usual riesling. It was left on lees for nine months and about 10% was matured in oak. The result is a wine of tremendous texture, with an intricate weave of fine acid and intensely flavoured fruit. Has a crunchy vibrant minerality on the finish. Exceptional wine." - Ray Jordan, WinePilot.com April 2024

Frankland Estate

Frankland Estate are one of the leading producers in the Frankland River region of WA. Family owned and operated since 1988, their major focus is on certified organically grown fruit that reflects its terroir rather than the hand of the winemaker.

Their cool climate Rieslings are regarded as some of the best in the region and the country with several single vineyard releases that could be a contender for Australia's Best Riesling.

Frankland Estate is cutting a mean wave through the industry and picking up a lot of recognition in the process.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
