Description

Radikon’s ‘Sivi’ is a far cry from your average Pinot Grigio. Made by Saša Radikon in the Friulian hills of Oslavia, this is skin-contact white at its most compelling - wild, honest, and quietly radical. The fruit spends around 10 days on skins, a shorter maceration by Radikon standards, which makes this one of the more approachable entries into the range. It’s aged in large Slavonian oak, bottled unfiltered, and released without any additions. What you get is a wine that sits somewhere between pink, copper, and amber in the glass, offering subtle grip, bright acid, and plenty of texture.

This is part of the more accessible 750ml line - a gentler take compared to the longer-aged, 500ml “blue label” wines - yet it still delivers that unmistakable Radikon signature: purity, energy, and structure. It’s a great first step into the world of orange wine, especially if you’re curious but not ready to dive in head-first.

"Radikon’s wines, together with neighbour and erstwhile colleague Joško Gravner, achieved a remarkable consistency and character with their slightly wild, deep, autumnal flavours and beguiling complexity."
- Simon Woolf (Decanter)

"It’s a remarkable site, fit snug into the typical rolling hills and dales of the region, tended daily by hand to ensure greatest health of fruit and optimum (low) yield. A family affair where son Sasa and father Stanko ebb and flow from winery to vineyard and back again."
- Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

93 points - "The 2022 Bianco Sivi, Radikon’s 100% Pinot Grigio that spends eight to ten days macerating on the skins, is a vivid, dark, pink color with violet hues. This is wonderfully fresh and floral with a spicy bouquet that blends rose petals with ginger and incense. It’s potent and savory in style, with juicy acidity to balance the depths of tart citrus and wild berry fruits that cascade throughout. The 2022 tapers off with a balance of sweet spice and cheek-puckering citrus, adding remarkable contrasts through the long and perfumed finale. Drink 2024-2029." - Eric Guido (Vinous)

Radikon

The Radikon family's vineyard holdings cover some 18 hectares of steep slopes in and around Oslavia, near the Slovenia/Italy border. Since 1980, Stanislao (Stanko) Radikon has made the wines alongside his wife Suzana. Their son, Sasa, has taken up the reins and is now the vocal frontman for the family business.

These wines are the benchmark for an unwavering commitment to the natural wine movement. The famous amber wines are made with extremely long skin maceration, years of time in barrel and a long rest in bottle before release. This process reveals wines that are deeply golden in colour, firmly structured, wild and of a singular character.

Radikon is not for the faint of heart. If you are a skin contact new-comer, the wines can be challenging at first. However, if you are an aficionado the style, these are some of the rarest and most sought-after creations in this genre that can be found anywhere in the world.
