Description
This Bourgogne Blanc punches well above its weight, and like everything from Sébastien Caillat and Florence Lamy, it’s crafted with the same exacting standards as their top wines. The fruit comes from the Les Grandes Corvées lieu-dit, just outside the Chassagne-Montrachet boundary, where soft, stony soils lend a graceful lift and energy to the wine.
Planted in 1990 and farmed with obsessive care, this 0.25ha site delivers a Chardonnay that’s all about purity and finesse. The élevage is classic Lamy-Caillat: slow and deliberate. The wine spends two full winters in their cold, damp cellar and 24 months on lees before bottling by hand, unfined and unfiltered.
It’s a powerful wine, fine-boned and complex. Expect citrus blossom, white peach and crushed stone aromas, with a palate that’s lithe and textural but never heavy. There’s an unmistakable Chassagne signature here, even if the label says Bourgogne.
Only around 1,300 bottles are produced each year. It’s a brilliant intro to one of Burgundy’s most exciting domaines if you can find it.

"The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Village derives from the excellent hillside lieu-dit Pot Bois (readers might think of this terroir as Chassagne-Montrachet's answer to Meursault Chevalières). Unwinding in the glass with aromas of citrus oil and pear mingled with notions of white flowers, hazelnuts and youthful reduction, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with lively acids, superb concentration and impressive reserves of chalky structuring extract."
