Description

The Hay Shed Hill Vineyard Series Cabernet is classic Margaret River Cab at a very friendly price. Sourced entirely from the estate’s dry-grown vines planted back in the early ’70s, it’s a wine that punches well above its weight in character and pedigree.

You get all the good stuff here - dark berries, cassis, a touch of mint and chocolate on the nose. The palate follows through with ripe blackcurrant and cherry, balanced by fine tannins and a gentle wash of cedar oak. It’s got the structure to go a few more years in the cellar, but it’s drinking beautifully now, especially with a quick decant.

A no-fuss, seriously solid Cabernet that shows why Hay Shed Hill continues to be one of the go-to names in Margaret River. Smooth, flavoursome, and great value - what more do you need?

92 points - "It feels cool and relaxed with an abundance of varietal/Margaret River flavours: cassis, mulberries, a dusting of cocoa powder, nori and lots of fresh herbs plus eucalyptus with cedary, sweet oak. 92 points - "Ink black to a deep ruby rim. Rich nose of blackcurrant, spearmint and cedar shavings. A big and dense wine, powerful black fruits are bound by equally powerful gravelly tannins. Pressed between those two weights are hints of black olive, cedar and cola spice. The tension is apparent. This vineyard consistently produces intense fleshy and full mid palate Cabernet with massive fruit weight with dark cherry and blackcurrant flavours. This is a big full wine with ample flavour and concentration in the classic Margaret River tradition.
This wine showcases the strength of Margaret River for this, the noblest of red wine varieties. This is classic, intense, ripe and elegantly structured Cabernet Sauvignon from one of the great Margaret River vineyards.
