The formidable powers of Riesling from all corners of Tasmania are put to good and fascinating use here. And, of course, it just wouldn't be a Dr. Edge wine without a little funk... And funk, it has...

It's an equal blend of Pete Dredge's North, South and East Rieslings, bottled unfiltered with some residual sugar.

A whopping nine months on lees and a little lazy time in some old barrels has put some weight on the skeletal Tassie Riesling frame. Yes, there are all the classic steel and citrus notes, but there's an extra layer of savouriness in this wine takes it to a transcendently weird level.

As always with the wines of the good Doctor, there aren't many bottles around. Grab one while you can.

"It’s so intense and tangy... green herbs and bitter lemon on a glossy/crunchy finish of excellent length."
- 95 pts, Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

Dr Edge Tasmania Riesling is a blend of Derwent Valley and Coal River Valley fruit. Pressed to old oak casks, the juice is fermented naturally, matured for 9 months on lees with some casks containing small amounts of whole clusters. Bottled without fining.

95 points - "Gooseberry, green apple, a cinnamon pie crust thing happening, fresh mint and chamomile. It’s so intense and tangy, it almost makes you pull a funny face, but has some gentle buttery richness, a whole lot of flinty/chalky texture, pink grapefruit, green herbs and bitter lemon on a glossy/crunchy finish of excellent length." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

94 points - "A blend of Derwent Valley and Coal River Valley riesling; pressed to old oak, wild ferment, matured for nine months on lees. Pale straw with aromas of citrus, poached pears and spiced apples along with hints of grapefruit pith, light mountain herbal tones, lemon butter, stone and pressed flowers. The gentle old oak sashays in on the palate in soft spice and light toasty nuance, the acidity coiling then releasing with impressive drive on the finish. Delicious" - Dave Brookes (Halliday Wine Companion)

95 Points - "Pale straw yellow colour. Nectarine, beeswax and makrut lime leaf aromas. A textural palate, with a creamy richness that fills the senses. Notes of stone fruits, beeswax and yellow florals all sit in harmony, a hint of spice adds to the complexity. The flow keeps your attention, a subtle shift from acidity to phenolics ensures it remains supple, whilst also carrying it very long and purifying the finish. A unique expression of riesling that will sing even more with food " - Stuart Knox (The Real Review)

    I wanted more !

I’ve not had many Rieslings. I’d read the hype about Dr edge so decided to give it a shot. All in all, I’d buy it again. From memory, Honeysuckle came to mind. It was definitely NOT one dimensional. The tastes varied...exactly what I want in a wine. Very nice

Dr. Edge

Peter Dredge is Dr. Edge. He is one of the most intuitive and talented winemakers on the Apple Isle.

With a wealth of experience garnered at wineries such as Bay of Fires, he has revitalised the Meadowbank label and returned it to its place as one of the must-watch vineyards in Tasmania.

Dr. Edge is his passion project where he can take risks and make Pinot Noir, Chardonnay & Riesling that truly excites him. His creativity can fly under the Dr. Edge banner and wines that walk a fine line of tension, funk and freshness invariably arise.

Only small batches of wine is produced, all made by hand, and typically they sell out in short order. Playful, pleasurable and remarkably thoughtful, the Dr. Edge creations are riveting things to drink and have rightfully earned cult status among collectors of Tasmania's finest.

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
