Perched at 1,200 metres in Navatalgordo, Peña la Mora is a new addition to the Comando G stable - and a serious one at that. It’s made from just over a hectare of old-vine Garnacha on granite soils, with a full north-facing aspect that brings real lift and definition, even in a warm year like 2022.
This is one of the darkest and most structured wines in the Comando G lineup - more polished than the wild edges of some of their older crus, but no less expressive. It’s got that signature Gredos energy and grip, with a chalky texture and pure red fruit that builds slowly in the glass.
It spent its elevage in large format oak, with just over 4,200 bottles made. Like many wines from this part of the mountains, it’s not out to impress on first pour - give it some air, or even better, a few years in the cellar.
